As a lifelong Star Trek fan, I loved every single moment of my time with Resurgence; and that includes when I had issues. But for those that aren’t huge fans of the source material, I can say that the sluggishness of the controls when you are able to actually *play* this video game may be too much to endure, even if you are down for a good story. But I am guessing that this is going to be a game that only the fans will really pick up, and hopefully this release along with the Star Trek Picard streaming series being in the top ten for multiple weeks will help us see more games in the Star Trek Universe. I just need some developer to give me a game that’s not based on the Federation, come on guys the Romulan Star Empire is right there and they have TONS of stories to tell.

Of course, this isn't really that sophisticated in terms of gameplay, but Resurgence's story and characters really shine, by skillfully continuing on from an early TNG episode. If you're like me and you're a fan of the TNG era, you'll probably really suck this one right up.

I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about playing Star Trek: Resurgence given that I’m not much of a Trekkie at all. None of that mattered though, as even though I didn’t know much of the previous context or background lore outside of main concepts and characters, I still quite enjoyed my narrative focused mission with Commander Jara Rydek and Engineer Carter Diaz. While it hasn’t converted me into a full Trekkie, it certainly had me going down a Star Trek wiki rabbit hole, wanting to learn more about certain races, characters and factions. Live long, and prosper.

Star Trek: Resurgence goes boldly, but the refit Resolute’s shakedown cruise can be a bumpy one. Yet, for all the game's faults, Jara Rydek and Carter Diaz won me over in full, and I bet they’ll win you over, too.

It is a game that remains true to the essence of Star Trek. Fans will enjoy it, even though it doesn't offer a revolutionary story. It's satisfying that it's no longer just an adventure focused on clicking dialogue options, but the gameplay is broader and more diverse. You will develop an attachment to the characters, and their fates will be in your hands. The same applies to your enemies, so it's up to you how you embody the principles of the Federation. It has a certain degree of replayability, although technical issues bring it down.

Looks horrible, but still it's the best Star Trek in years.

With all that said, the most disappointing part of Resurgence isn’t any technical problem or frustrating minigame, it’s how much you want it to succeed. Seeing it shine just to shy away behind tacked-on action is tragic, even if it isn’t enough to take away from this brilliant classic Trek story.

The story is classic TNG plot, the dialog, story and characters are authentic to Trek.

If you like Star Trek, this game is well worth your time.

I just finished the game and I think it's very good. I too am not sure how different the narrative would be if I had chosen other options, butI just finished the game and I think it's very good. I too am not sure how different the narrative would be if I had chosen other options, but the game still does a good job making you think your choices mattered. Looking at the narrative that I built, I don't know how it could have ended any other way than how it did.

I came across a bug in the game where Carter is supposed to touch a screen to diagnose what happened to a shuttlecraft. I'm pressing everywhere on the screen and nothing happens. When I tapped the screen, it accidently selected 2 buttons at the same time. I suspect it was only supposed to tap one, which is what blocked me. I had to restart the chapter and try again, but I only lost 5 minutes of my time to be honest when this happened.

Other than that 1 bug I experienced, the game was pretty well polished. The story and characters were great. I think any Trek fan of the 90's era will really enjoy this game. I'd give it an 8/10. I don't know how reviewers went less than that to be honest. Even the stealth sequences were logical and straight-forward - I don't know what some of the reviewers were talking about. Shooting could have been less clunky, but I don't have much to nitpick in all honesty.

The graphics were pretty good too. Some of the areas are downright gorgeous. Some of them really made me feel like I was on the set of the shows. The character animations and such were well done.

The music and sound effects were fantastic. Totally fit like the shows, and suited everything perfectly. Voice acting was pretty good, especially by the main characters. Not just Spock and Riker, who had big roles in this game, but also the main bridge officers and the two alien leaders you get to know quite well.

The narrative swapping back and forth from the lower decks to the bridge characters and having them ping-pong back and forth was really well done too. The story also had a nice number of twists and turns, and a good element of mystery to it while being logically constructed.

At the end of the day, there are not exactly a lot of options for 90's star trek games. And despite how rare it is to see a game pop up in this era, it is of a very high quality and is created by a team of writers and developers that cared. Given that it's of high quality and how rare it is to find something like this, it's a pretty easy recommendation. I hope it sells well.

It's not often Trekkies get any video games. Much less a great one. This is most definitely one of if not the best Star Trek games I've playedIt's not often Trekkies get any video games. Much less a great one. This is most definitely one of if not the best Star Trek games I've played in a long long time. It has a very interesting story, better than some of the new Star Trek series if you ask me. The VO work is very good. Who ever it is that they got to take on the task of portraying Spock did an amazing job. He sounds nearly identical to Leonard Nimoy. The gameplay is basically like any Telltale game. It's mostly there to move the plot along. Every once in a while you'll come across a puzzle that they don't really give you a very good indication of what it is you're supposed to be doing. But it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the game imho. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent in the game. As long you are a fan of Star Trek games and Telltale's games I can honestly say that I think you're gonna have a great time with this one . Expand

Story is nice, like TNG episodes. But graphics engine is very old. XSX/PS5 versions should have better engine.
