Tralha voado para todo o lado e com uma história incrivelmente mal feita, e efeitos visuais não tão legai. A Batalha em Los Angeles só serve pra mostrar a superioridade americana.

Acting is dreadful, effects way below average, dialogue is for 2 year olds and a story that is non existent. Add that the camera was shaking like there was a 9.0 earthquake. One diaster of a movie.

What "Battle:LA" tries to portray is the aphorism "The easy day was yesterday". Well, guess what. Mission failed.

It looked so good in the previews, dammit.

This is a wait for TNT type of movie. Trust me, you'll thank me.

I paid to see this with friends in a theatre when it came out. Oh my. Suffice to say, it's like watching any action movie you've ever seen before. Just minus any exceptional moments. Not worth seeing unless you enjoy generic rubbish with decent SFX.

But Battle: Los Angeles is beyond unoriginal, it's a cut-and-paste job of numerous far better movies, and it doesn't even try to hide it. You can quite easily sit in front of this film with a checklist of movie cliches and tick them off as they fly past in quick succession. It's not an irredeemable action flick by any means - the effects are reasonable, the set pieces competent, and Aaron Eckhart growls through his lines like the best of elite military heroes. With even a smidgen of originality, and more than a half-hearted attempt at character development, Battle: L.A. could have been a very fun, brainless thrill-ride. As it is, it's just brainless. First off let me say if you are just looking for fun movie to watch with your buddies this movie is it. As a zone out and laugh with your friends flick, this is a 9/10

If you are critical when it comes to the films you watch then 1/10, because:

It could have been better if the director wasnt trying to become an honorary marine or something. The characters are all overly self-righteous and inept. Also the camera work is **** abysmal. I think that the cinematographer was trying to push some boundary by "breaking the rules" or something but it just makes the production look dumb. Its like he actually thought we would be more engaged because there weren't any Steadicams or track dollies used. Lots of lense flares, midshot zooming, and shaky cam.

The worst part was that it felt like it was supposed to be a character story or something. You can tell that your supposed to feel like your watching Band of Brothers but it feels like your watching The Room. This movie wants to be a Spielberg/Hanks production so bad. Unlike how you feel about Easy Company in B.O.B. this movie made me think that the Marine corps. is made entirely of douche-bags. At one point in the film the entire squad complains that they shouldn't have been forced into combat to save defenseless civilians. Anyone who thinks I am a liberal who hates the military and thus hated this movie is entitled to that opinion but way off. I hated this movie because it isn't made well. Plain and simple.

The reason I didn't hate it completely was that I saw what Lawrence Toppman had said about the film. Spent the entire time picking out what film each piece had been stolen from.

It's exactly Independence Day meets District 9, with a bit of Skyline (late 2010 if you've already forgotten it - I had) thrown in for good measure. The movie smacks of a feeble organised attempt to elicit sympathy and emotion for an enemy you can't (really) see - the aliens. Oh gee, that's what the US is doing in the Middle East right now. I would not at all be surprised to learn that this movie was (ultimately) funded by the US government for propaganda reasons. There are even attempts to plug recruitment for the US Marines and the small boy Hector is called a "young marine". For its pure entertainment value please give us something less corny and predictable. Save your time and effort and watch something else. Expand

My friend invited me to see this, and I would take a bullet for that guy, but none the less being shot hurts. This lived up to the hype I had built up in my mind. Let me rehash the plot: exposition, hour long battle scene, speech, final battle scene. When I saw the trailers for this, I thought "What is this, Earth Defense Force 2017: The Movie?", but I realize now that I shouldn't have thought that because that would be an insult to Earth Defense Force. The one nice thing I have to say about this movie is that the special effects were good, and I really liked the way the flying saucers break apart into smaller units. At points this movie does deliver, but frankly this movie was so generic and mind numbingly dull that I would rather there be a real alien invasion than have to sit through anything like it again. I liked a number of movies that didn't have great scripts and relied heavily on special effects, such as Transformers (the first that is). But this movie is a failure on every single front imaginable, the action is blurred and shaky camera is used incredibly liberally and in places that make no sense whatsoever, and when the isn't blurred you can see the aliens that are not in the slightest intimidating considering their slightness of build and who cannot seem to aim accurately despite the fact that they are partially cybernetic. the script is absolutely horrible corny garbage that no one in their right mind should be able to take seriously. I walked into the movie theater hoping that this was another case of the critics being pretentious and irrationally contrarian, what i got to see was this steaming pile of garbage that deserves universal disdain, do not under any circumstances pay money to see this movie. BUT then I realized it wasn't suppose to be a comedy, I think, still not sure. Must be a comedy and a pathetic attempt .The reality, Aliens have taken over LA, I mean Hollywood. Really!, They must have made this movie to throw us off track. I hope that is the excuse!!!!. The aliens (Hollywood) complied and used the absolute worst from all previous alien motion pictures. Every terrible cliche', worst dialogue, lost continuity, no real content, and no imagination! Talk about beings from another planet, apparently the people who THREW this together are from another galaxy and not in touch with the human race. Come down to earth! This piece of film, is a real Battle of your Mind, trying to find entertainment value for over an hour and 1/2. Its worst than brain freeze. At least brain freeze goes away quickly, but with Battle of Los Angeles, maybe in a decade or two, I can learn to forget the agony of sitting through mindless dribble. Expand

After wasting five pound on an entry ticket and another five pound on a bag of minstrels and a coke, watching this poor excuse for a film put me down. I ended up leaving an hour in due to its repetitive scenes, horrible acting and cheap special effects. I enjoyed Avatar - a film widely remarked as full of action with a bland storyline - but this is a whole new level of obscenity. I wouldn't be able to name you a single character from the main squad, all I really cared was that they died before the two and a half hours of pathetic movie were over. Okay, so all the marines had the right gear, they acted like marines, and had a couple of rifles that made us shout 'Ha, its the M16 from Call of Duty!' and then realising I would rather be playing that instead of watching the film. As for the tension, it works in a similar way to '2012' the whole film is supposedly so tense that you end up predicting every part of the movie. For example, my friend said to me 'I bet that helicopter will get shot down straight away'... Spoiler Alert: It did. Out of the 7 of us watching, only 2 remained who watched the remainder of the film, met us and summarised it in about two lines. Again, they didn't know any of the names...
Do not waste your money watching this film because you'll get more value for your money with a length of rope.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If scenes existed in a vacuum, maybe the stabs at drama that the filmmaker attempts in "Battle: Los Angeles" wouldn't be so jarring. Scenes, however, are interlocked, comprising of a contextual whole with a predominant tone, and the tone in this "Saving Private Ryan"-style sci-fier is escapist, regardless of its shaky-cam documentary aesthetic designed to make the fantastical meld together with reality. As advertised, "Battle: Los Angeles" plods along noisily and with a minimum of dialogue, pitting an infantry of nondescript marines against the aliens who have come for our water in war-torn Santa Monica. So far, so good. On a rescue mission, the marines discover a father and son, and a helpful veterinarian on the other end of an answered distress signal, who are then made to board a yellow schoolbus that should make them easy pickings for the clunky-looking invaders. But maybe they're colorblind. Following an alien autopsy conducted under the watchful eye of that serendipitous veterinarian(Bridget Moynahan gets to deliver a classic line), Staff Sergeant Michael Nantz(Aaron Eckhart) determines that the right side("where the heart should be") is the killshot, but not a whole lot is made of this intelligence. Blowing them up to kingdom come proves to be equally effective. And so it goes, for better or worse, "Battle: Los Angeles" is a live-action video game that can't be bothered with details or human emotions. Not satisfied with fiery explosions and perfunctory dialogue, however, Sgt. Nash, alluded to being John Wayne earlier in the film, goes "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" on his men by delivering a sentimental, ham-fisted speech that will emit more guffaws than tears from moviegoers. After all, it's not the Germans whom they're engaged in war with, but rather, it's a battalion of water-powered aliens, and poorly-conceived ones at that. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I did have great hopes for BLA(2011), desperately willing it to be better than Charlie Sheen's The Arrival(1996), and at the very least better than Skyline(2010). Well, for me it actually was a little better than last year's Hy'drau'l'x stinker, but not enough. It suffers similarly from a lack of audience relatability within such a claustrophobic story. Where's that (INTERNATIONAL) focus group when you really needed one?

If anything, this can be said to be a by-the-numbers marine Hoo-Ah film that tries waaaay-too-hard to capture the visceral feel of life as a Marine, but suffers by comparison with The Hurt Locker(2008). Its most obvious major flaw was the overused shaky-cam, constantly filming inches from chiselled jaws.

The forced crying of men on camera I found pointedly ham-fisted; but director Liebesman seemed to handle the role of Michelle Rodriguez, the female Technical Sergeant, with admirably low-key acceptance. Other casting choices showed a glimmer of movie-making ability â

I went to this film on opening night knowing really nothing about it, and i was daydreaming by the end of the movie. The reason this movie was so dull to me was because:
A) I've already seen this movie half a dozen times. Basically it was Independence day mixed with a marine ad, mixed with any Michael Bay movie. B) There was no tension in the movie because the alien's weapons had no effect on the marines. C) everyone in the movie was a hero, thus making no one the hero. D) The "Plot" was so predictable I didn't even have to pay attention to know what was going on.

Save yourself 10 Bucks and watch independence day instead.

As with many of the users giving this positive reviews; I can only assume you were in the marines, know someone who is in the marines, or fell asleep after the first action scene. The movie builds up the characters in the beginning apparently for no reason. The characters are in no way dear to your heart by only being provided with inconsequential details of their back story in the beginning is the film's only attempt at character development. All could have been forgiven if the action was similar to the first fight scene. I was originally blown away and fully immersed in the combat. Then the rest of the movie happened. The rest of the film is just riddled with awkward dialogue, clunky character direction, and outlandish situations even for an alien movie. Please be my little Marine and pass this movie up. Expand

Don't get me wrong - I love movies about aliens - I think they're out there somewhere, and eventually we'll meet them - but until then, we'll just imagine them on screen, right? Battle: Los Angeles has such a great cast, how could it possibly go wrong? Aaron Eckhart, Bridget Moynahan and Michelle Rodriguez are NOT B movie actors - they are high-caliber Hollywood A-listers - right? Or so I thought when I saw the trailer... But after viewing the movie, I was actually quite angry, because Skyline actually did a better job with less money and NO A-list movie stars. Here's where Battle L.A. went wrong: It spent entirely too much time on character development, and not enough time fleshing out the aliens and their advanced technology. What is an alien invasion flick without aliens and special effects? The deceleration coronas that the spacecraft create before landing were probably the coolest things we saw - besides the energy weapons the aliens used. We are warned of impending danger. We see everyone gathered around their televisions, watching the earth-shattering, unbelievable news. Then, at the climactic moment, we see the aliens rising on the water and eventually taking the beachhead - all from far off - and we think we're in for a fun ride - that never quite takes off. Unfortunately, we are given no exposition regarding the origins of the aliens, and we don't really get a good look at them. We do, however, get a good look at the marines who fight them - and fight them - and fight them - inside their alien technology exoskeleton armor. "Where's the beef?" This movie works best as a Marine recruitment video - not as a special effects blockbuster. By the time the aliens were effectively repelled, I simply didn't care any longer - I just wanted the "Battle" to be over.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hmm... well, i'll give credit where credit is due. Its pretty, the movie looks like a Michael Bay lite version of a war movie. Thats the only good thing i can say about this awful collection of war movie cliches. The characters feel hollow and expendable (when one specific marine dies, thats when everyone has the "omg we're in a war" look, way over halfway into the movie when the entire city and half of the american fighting force in the area is dead), and every skirmish feels underwhelming. Theres so many things wrong with this movie, even tactically; why would you send a black hawk in to extract your team and civillians when the enemy has annihilated your entire air force division in the area? Marines are trained to shoot the torso, which is the alien's weakness, yet they have to discover this already trained tactic to survive? If you drive in a huge orange bus throughout the second largest city in the country dont you think the enemy will see you? Perhaps i overthought the tactics of the movie, so you might say "just take it as a summer blockbuster," yet, even with that, its awful. The "last stand" event is a nearly frame for frame remake of the ending battle of saving private ryan, and war movie cliches abound; wounded men shout and argue with their commanding officers to leave them behind, the black guys always die first, nothing bad happens to the children (well admittedly, one has his father killed), men with deep husky voices come out of epic explosions unscathed, its rediculous. This is nothing more than Marine propaganda with aliens based loosely on the actual battle of los angeles during world war 2. Expand

There are the obvious dismissals in dumb action movies (character, coherent plotting, subtlety), and then there are the dismissals of everything we've come to evolve to in film (craft, focus, effort), and then there are the dismissals of the basic logic that we humans take for granted (vision, thought, sound, reason). This is not a film. This is a series of shots taken with a camera, that are spliced together to vaguely resemble some abortion of a faux-film. Expand

I had the option of turning it off at about the halfway point. The writing was awful, the special effects were laughable, and the way the characters reacted to the news (by completely ignoring it) was an insult to the intelligence of American soldiers. I couldn't take it. If your idea of a good movie is "wow them guys firing them there guns is cool!"...then this is your movie. Expand

There are tons of action moments, but there is no reason to watch because the characters are lifeless and there isn't a real story. It is unbearable for me.

the plot is too boring, the e.t are things undefinied you never see one of them pretty close and the fight was like 4 blocks... the ufos had lots of tech equipment to kick ass but even so it wasnt enough... i could stand watching it the worst sci-fi movie i´ve ever seen.

Cliched, derivative, mind numbingly stupid, and doesn't even fall into the same category of 'Stupid but entertaining' like Michael Bay's Transformers movies. Avoid this one.

Awful acting by all the actors, the story is just weird senseless. you could say that the Special Effects save the movie unless that's what I thought but sadly they didn't.

Alien Robots battling for earth against gun touting humans, sounds like fun right while you'd be wrong. No character development along with sub par robots leads to a dreadfully awful movie.

It make me feel shame that movies like this can exist, horrible. First the aliens were indestructible and then the guy kill them with a pistol, the aliens run through the marines bullets, and the marines are harder to die than Chuck Norris.

Battle Los Angeles
