Cuck is powerful so long as we’re simply trapped observing Ronnie’s all-too-palpable incomprehension and childlike tantrums over his dead-end circumstances. But when those circumstances start to feel rigged, the film’s value as analysis of a hot-button social phenomenon begins to cool.
Initially a caustic and somewhat programmatic checklist of alt-right obsessions, Cuck becomes more tonally and dramatically interesting after it shifts gear midway through, when Ronnie's story becomes a lurid psychosexual nightmare reminiscent of Darren Aronofsky's "Requiem for a Dream."

Very raw film, viewer beware. However - if you want a snapshot and real depiction of the folks storming state capitol buildings with open carry assault rifles and the recruitment by white supremacists on the internet look no further than Cuck. Not for the faint of heart, Cuck reveals a very ugly side of America. You won't want to see it again, but you'll never be able to unsee it. These people are everywhere, they're real, and their anger is boiling. I wish the movie offered more of a solution but perhaps there isn't one.

oh wow! The "reviews" on here are hilarious. This movie was dead on and it's pissed a lot of dudes off lol. I can see why this movie makes you mad fellas but ****'re playing yourselves with these comments. It's like a Black Mirror episode: A movie about an angry alt-right incel troll comes to life in the user **** can't make this stuff up!

At its best, Cuck emphasizes those moments when Ronnie is reachable: when he’s treated like an ordinary person and tries his best to respond in kind.
Ultimately, though it hints at moments of wit, Cuck never feels serious enough to be a convincing character study and not garish enough to head into genre territory. Ultimately, this sordid tale feels both real and inconsequential.
If you want to make a movie that argues for stricter gun laws, or more conscientious nationwide mental health care, by all means go ahead. But this kind of morbid, witless scab-picking, capped by an oh-so-ironic choice of closing credits song, is worse than useless.
A lot of people have the tendency to compare Cuck to Joker. It deals with similar themes, and was even released on the same weekend as the 2019 take on the comic book villain. However, this movie is a very poorly done Joker.
First off, the protagonists descent into the alt right makes very little sense. His "descent" into cuckoldry and ridicule by his own audience makes even less sense. This story is just being politically decisive solely to be politically decisive. The camera work is shoddy, and the direction and focus of the movie is completely lazy. The acting is fine, but I feel a lot of the actors are miscast.
This is an okay movie if you want a laugh. If you're really interested in this movie, I'd advise you to see Joker instead. I'd be worried if you genuinely, non-ironically love this film.

Haha, I'm absolutely loving the 10s from the clear liberal trolls trying to justify their existence. Yet it still made zero money at the box office and scores pathetically low on every rating site there is that isnt salon or huffpost. I guess it allows lefties to sleep at night after they've taken their depression medication.
