The funniest of the Presley travelogues finds Elvis and his rock combo dispatched to Fort Lauderdale by a Chicago mobster during spring break to keep watch over his girls-just-wanna-have-fun daughter (Shelley Fabares).
It's a fun movie to watch just to see how Presley even keeps up with the constant changes in this young girl. His reactions are funny, and it's a very playful movie that many people don't really talk about.
The story is solid and its characters are fleshed out enough that Girl Happy can be considered a plentiful experience, if not the final remnant of Presley's ambitious vitality in his late 1960s films.
The saving grace is the steady stream of tunes, as rhythmical as they are unoriginal, belted out by the star and the other youngsters.
