Screenwriters Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger (“Love, Simon”) are no strangers to the subversive rom-com, and capable directing and editing by Jason Orley (“Big Time Adolescence”) and Jonathan Schwartz (“Stuber”), respectively, set leads Jenny Slate and Charlie Day up for maximum hilarity. The film ultimately feels a bit underdeveloped, but this seems a small price to pay for a romantic comedy with zero misogyny and relatively realistic characters.
Like its characters, I Want You Back, is likeable but somewhat unambitious and complacent.

I Want You Back is just a pleasant surprise, the movie is entertaining, the movie is funny, the movie was romantic, the movie was emotional, and the movie is even a musical, they have all of that and it works perfectly for me, I Want You Back is also fills with a very good entertaining performance by all the cast especially Jenny Slate and Charlie Day, their chemistry was just great, a few thing that makes I Want You Back not perfect is there is some particular character that i don't find neccessary, like Jenny's couples roomate, i really did not like them at all, and probably a couple or three scene and that's about it, what happen mostly in the film was just good, overall I Want You Back is surprisingly a very good movie and it's simply one of the most entertaining films of the year.

The narrative cruises to a satisfying finish. The jokes go down easy. The characters grow in predictable directions. The film rarely strays from its genre’s conventions, and that’s not a complaint. Sometimes staying in one lane yields the most gratifying results.
I Want You Back will definitely make viewers laugh. The film isn’t trying to make anyone cry or be overly dramatic — it simply follows funny performances through the 2022 dating world and lets the audience fill in the blanks.
It’s a far better version of a romantic comedy than we’re used to streaming of late.
What I Want You Back really has going for it is Slate and Day. The set-up may be a Ryan deep cut, but their awkward energy, and shared ability to scattershot subtle one-liners without them getting buried by the sillier antics, harks back to another of her classics: When Harry Met Sally.
Jenny Slate and Charlie Day deserve better than “I Want You Back,” a leaden rom-com that gives them a shot at being funny, charming, and sweet, only to squander it scene by scene.
I want you back
A romantic movie that on the surface has a very predictable ending, but it takes a meandering, entertaining and fulfilling path to reach the end. The writing is sharp and finely portrayed by the cast.

Charlie Day is funny but lacked his no holds barred approach to comedy and the chemistry was a bit off.

A fun rom com that doesn't drag and features likable leads, definite watch if a fan of the genre. Some plot points needed some better resolutions but it seems they wanted to keep the story and scope very tight.
