Mandy is not just hideous, hilarious and thrilling – although, it’s all of those and then some – it’s also a meditation on personal grief which loses no poignancy for all its blood-soaked insanity and eye-melting psychedelia.
As was the case in Cosmatos’s first film, the comparatively sedate Beyond the Black Rainbow, each frame, every shot of Mandy reeks of shocking beauty, stylized at times to within an inch of its intelligibility, but endlessly pregnant with creativity and control, euphoria and pain, clarity and honesty and the ineffable sense that Cosmatos knows exactly how and what he wants to subconsciously imprint into the viewer.

I love it because the movie is so dark, gritty, scary and awesome but like an entertaining psychedelic gorefest. It’s got the fight scenes in it, the dark and scary tone are so cool. It’s a True Horror Movie that Fans will Love it. It’s a perfect movie to watch on Halloween.

Mandy is destined to live forever as a cult favorite, but what’s going to set it apart from so many others is the way in which Cosmatos sustains the emotional stakes of Red’s quest through the entire film.
Loving Mandy means appreciating what’s special about it from start to finish: from the psychedelic opening to the speed-metal finale. This film is a fusion of kitsch and pulp, underscored with a genuine spiritual yearning. It shouldn’t even be shown in theaters; it should be projected onto the side of an old hippie’s van.
The film’s two sides — the soft, textured reverie of its first half, and the surreal, angular savagery of its second — exist in perpetual balance; one would die without the other.
Panos Cosmatos's film is a profoundly violent and weirdly moving poem of male alienation.
Cosmatos’ Mandy matches Cage grimace for grimace and achieves, at times, a transcendent midnight madness.
For lack of a better word this movie is truly... "astounding" for a whole myriad of reasons, it's going to be one people are either going to love or hate.
It's about the most bat$%&* crazy movie to come out in recent years and I suspect everyone involved were on copious amounts of drugs the entire time they were making it.

There's a good movie hiding in here somewhere.
You're going to need to do two things to prepare for watching this movie. 1) Do drugs. 2) Bring extra drugs to take halfway through.
There is a good film in here somewhere. I think cutting 30 minutes out and playing the rest at 1.5 speed would do a lot to help the finished product. Oh, and did I mention drugs?
