A thrill-stuffed sports doc whose daredevil subject will quickly endear himself even to viewers who've never heard his name.
It’s not about why he was such a thrill-seeking risk-taker but about appreciating his success in living life on his own terms.
Witnessing him defy long odds, gravity and death is a thrill; even the uninitiated should find his unresolved father complex of interest.
The documentary neatly lays out all the events leading to March 2009 in the Dolomites, from his early days of struggling to find his place in the world to discovering the extreme sports that would shoot him to fame.
McConkey is simultaneously engaging and frustratingly superficial.
