Lighthearted and charming story of a black and white team of con artists in the Old South. Very enjoyable.
The remarkable script by Pierre Marton manages to be great fun while laying bare the evils of the institution of slavery. [11 Aug 1991, p.6]
This is a funny, entertaining comedy that handles its touchy subject with great skill and sensitivity.
Garner and Gossett seem like originals out of American humor, and in a better movie they might have continued that way. But Skin Game is neither written nor directed with enough toughness, or enough compassion, to realize its potential.
