The Quiet Girl is that rare thing: a work of storytelling that speaks most loudly when it is saying nothing.
Gorgeously realized and crafted with homespun care, this delicate and heartbreaking drama is one of the year’s best films.

One of the most deeply moving, heartfelt and beautifully heartbreaking films I've ever seen!!
"The Quiet Girl" tells the story in POV of a little girl slowly and empathetically, with the most simple narrative yet full of emotionally magnificent cinematography and masterfully well-crafted visual storytelling.
The film was purely driven by subtle emotions that was so quiet yet loud to the core of human heart, in the most simple way it could ever managed but it worked flawlessly astounding.
I can instantly say that this film is definitely an all-time classic cinema without any doubts.

As superb as any feature debut in recent memory, its power derived from its marriage of graceful writing, subtle direction, and unbearably expressive performances. Movies don’t come much more exquisitely heartbreaking than this.
It’s by addressing grief in its purest form that we empathise with the pain that can make us willing to open up again, pave over the cracks, and wound a broken heart.
The Quiet Girl earns its most emotionally powerful scenes because of the way that it so gracefully convinces us that it wasn’t even building toward them in the first place.
It’s a simple but artfully effective debut feature from Irish filmmaker Colm Bairéad, with a remarkable, heartbreaking debut performance from Clinch, whose face betrays anxieties she doesn’t yet fully understand.
The ending of The Quiet Girl is modestly dramatic compared to what has preceded it, but the emotional charge we are presumably supposed to feel has been cut off by all the contemplative long shots that have kept us for so long at arm’s length.
A profound, delicate, beautiful film. I grew up in Ireland during the same era and it brought so much back. Incredibly accurate depiction of that time, down to the type of biscuit placed on the table. It may feel understated to some but if you know Ireland you'll be hit with hammer blow after hammer blow of recognition and feeling. I felt like I was back in time. It especially captures the Irish psychology and way of speaking. TBH I prefer it to Banshees of Inisherin.

This is a film about a neglected young girl who is sent away to live with relatives for the summer where she is loved, probably for the first time in her life. It is heartwarming, life-affirming and heart-breaking. It is a tender, beautiful film.

A very sad movie, where overburdened parents send their daughter to her aunt during holidays. There, she had a much better life but knows that she will have to go back. There's no happy end.
Movie is emotional but bit boring. There are no big turnarounds or many highlights.

To be less dysfunctional parents must one have lost a child? And what is this wave of festival films that work by subtraction, minimalistically, subdued not to counter the potential rhetorical emphasis of a strong theme in itself, but to make even more fragile the clichés of an unhappy childhood already all told from the choice of the angelic face of a 9 year old girl? How much poetry and sensitivity for a feature film debut that could have ended with the picture on the poster. "A cloying mise-en-scène [that] rests on a predictable and lazy use of coldly composed images, to which digital photography gives a fake tone, between backlit shots, slow motion sequences and an affected use of details" (Roberto Manassero). The 4:3 format, the tender, delicate, moving and touching music, the elegiac watercolor of a rural-Gaelic Ireland in 1981 where however no character amputates the fingers of his hand: an ideal packaging for the emotionality of an audience numbed by the sentimentality of television dramas.
