Una película histórica muy interesante, con escenografías mágicas y un relato crudo y directo. Me encantó.

'Los Colonos' is a Chilean western of impeccable craftsmanship. The beautiful photograph of the immensity of Tierra del Fuego provides a feeling of amazement and desolation, especially when the brutality is present. Felipe Gálvez's film debut impresses with his ambition and a theme as raw as the history of a country based on the genocide of the natives. It is, without a doubt, a cruel but necessary reminder of ethnic cleansing, dispossession, and marginalization in the pursuit of profits and "order." However, anyone could accuse Gálvez of prioritizing style over substance; The characters do not feel as developed, not to mention that the story never manages to closely represent the population under attack (something that, for example, 'Killers of the Flower Moon' does achieve). The violence also becomes gratuitous in several instances, particularly in one that is quite dreadful in a sexual way. In any case, 'Los Colonos' is an exciting and technically superb debut that makes us look with discomfort at how indigenous peoples have been treated on our continent.

The writer-director and his cinematographer, Simone D’Arcangelo, evoke spaghetti westerns with wide-angle vistas of forbidding horizons. Odd moments of Quentin Tarantino-style playfulness add to the unease. The perverse, atonal effect is as discombobulating as Harry Allouche’s plucked, appositely bleak score.
In its unflinching portrayal of historical massacres perpetrated against the Ona tribes of South America, it presents obfuscated truths about colonial atrocities, using its austere direction and sun-bleached color palette to firmly place us in the middle of man-made horrors.
It’s an engrossing story, even at its most gruesome or theatrical. For my money, it’s more satisfying, cinematic, exotic and allegorical than the thematically and historically similar “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
This is the western as a dried, coruscating corpse, left out for the buzzards to feed on.
Torn between Tarantino-esque genre pastiche and stilted art-film seriousness, The Settlers is at once unsettling and tonally unsettled. The result is a muddled study of brutal history.
Muito difícil avaliar um filme como "The settlers", que trata do extermínio de ameríndios na região do Chile, e de como os colonos também brigavam entre si, tendo o filme do Scorcese tão fresquinho na memória. Isso porque, Felipe Gálvez Haberle faz a opção de criar um filme mais contemplativo e letárgico, não tendo a pegada narrativa de "Assassino da Lua das flores", e por mais visceral que seja, ficamos com a sensação que o filme poderia ser mais.

Very dark film. Gruesome too. Hard to tell if the acting is good because they all acted bizarre. The film went from one time/place to another abruptly so that's confusing. All in all we'd say: "skip this as there are better movies out there."
