Brydon and Coogan are the same gifted improvisers they’ve always been, shooting the breeze until it sweeps them into some absurd playacted scenario.
It is at once a desperate echo of long-gone glories and a glory itself.

If you loved the first two, you'll love this one even more, the best of the three. I've read that some think that the impressions are getting tired, that is exactly the point. The impressions, and the jests, cover for the two leads own insecurities, most pointedly Coogan's, who even in his dreams, must adopt someone else's personality in order to conjure a romantic moment, only to wake up to terror.

If you’ve have seen the other films in the series as I have, you should enjoy this one too. Great scenery, meals you will envy, and lots of witty talk. The two traveling companions remain essentially the same (one still happily married and one with family problems), but seem less antagonistic towards each other. The more serious moments are fewer, but the riffs are longer and seem less repetitious. Recommended even if you haven’t seen the first two films in the series.

The movies may be frivolous (and stitched together from British TV shows), but they are unique — they have an astute understanding of mature male friendship that is rare, even in a male-dominated industry.
The film is, like its predecessors, funny. But the joke is starting to wear just a bit thin.
Like Italy before it, Spain doesn’t prove as rich a journey as Coogan and Brydon’s original trip. For fans of the comics, bits, scenery, and pacing, the formula is still successfully in play for the most part, and everyone will pick out their favorite moments of Coogan and Brydon’s brilliant shtick.
The good news for fans is that The Trip to Spain is no Godfather III. The moderately bad news is that this sometimes hilarious outing is the one in which the conceit comes to resemble a lushly produced, irregularly broadcast TV series.
What Coogan and Brydon are doing in these films is an acquired taste, but if they want to continue on doing them then they’re going to need to cut down and edit their interminable actor impressions.
First, they travelled thru the English countryside, then it was Italy. With this film…well, it's obvious. I looked at my review of the 2nd one and it pretty much applies here: Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon reunite for a culinary tour of Italy. The majority of the “action” consists of the two comics bantering (in a car or a restaurant) and doing their impressions (the humorous highlights that range from David Bowie to Sean Connery). The scenery is stunning, but the meals get little attention. Of course, it’s really about them, so you like their style, you’ll find yourself amused. (This one's ending drags on after the fun and has a questionable destination.)

An unlikely idea that became a trilogy. Almost like Richard Linklater's Before trilogy, although obviously without the same quality, but still the overall conditions remained and at no time stopped being entertaining.
I could hardly say that it was a memorable trilogy but for what it is, I can only say that it has enough credits to satisfy the average viewer.

I saw the first film, which had a lot of charm and gave me a tour of the lovely English countryside, some views of luscious food, and witty repartee. I was expecting more of the same, but I was disappointed. Outside of some homemade sausage towards the beginning of the film, there wasn't much emphasis on the actual food. I would have liked some emphasis on the chefs as well, but we mainly got to meet one waitress, who spoke with a thick accent. I did get a few good laughs, but there was more emphasis on drama in contrasting the lives of family man Rob and bachelor Steve, and it didn't work for me. Some of the scenery was interesting, but I can't say that I really got to know either Spanish or Spanish cuisine.
