If this movie was better it might make rom coms great again. But I cannot lie. It won’t.

On a single day, the protagonist of The Truth About Lies is fired from his job, his apartment burns down and his girlfriend dumps him. He has it easy compared to anyone who actually watches this thoroughly unpleasant, unfunny comedy.

As a fan of the romantic comedy, I am always seeking out a film that has the right balance of romance and comedy, and The Truth About Lies managed to pull that off effortlessly. I was pleasantly surprised by how hilarious the movie was, as well as how it managed to portray real life situations. Relationships in real life can be messy, painful, amazing, and so many things in between, and director Phil Allocco managed to make a film that touched on that as well as be funny at the same time. I was thoroughly impressed by The Truth About Lies and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the film to any rom-com fan!

This movie was pretty great. I loved that this comedy was so funny but also touched on some real stuff like cheating, lying, and just getting your life together. It was really honest ironically for being a movie about lying. I, personally, would like to see some of this cast work together again because they killed it in this. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a rom-com heavy on the com.

Phil Allocco has the perfect mix of characters for his rom-com The Truth About Lies. Though Rachel (Odette Annable) and Gilby (Fran Kranz) connect because of their similar beliefs about working, they couldn’t be more different. Gilby tries to mold himself to be the perfect person for Rachel with a mix of lies and outdoor experiences. This movie is so funny, if you’re a rom-com lover, it’s for you!

A great, light-hearted film with an amazingly talented cast whose chemistry is perfect on screen. Playing with my emotions and making me sympathize with character's downfall. Great film for a broken heart.

This film is full of the “butterfly effect.” When Gilby (Fran Kranz) tells lie after lie, he endlessly gets himself into a deeper hole. I love movies like this, literally had me laughing the whole time. I’d for sure recommend this movie if you’re in search of a rom-com to watch with your roomies!

Truth About Lies is an unusual rom-com in that there’s cheating, lying, & karma. Sounds more like life than a movie, right? This film is relatable by showcasing the up & down whims of adulting and dating. Director Phil Allocco has done an amazing job of writing an original storyline within an overdone genre. Great film!
