The story is simple, as befits a movie that's more about visual flash, technical bravura, and ideas than plot and character development. TRON turns into an action-oriented endeavor, with characters attempting to make their way through the video game inspired landscape of the mainframe to the goal that will achieve victory.
i dind enjoy this film so much, this film have a not really convincing story but the scenes of this film are beautiful with a lot of 80s special effects this film brings you in the story it's a beautiful experience.
you should watch this film if you like adventure, videogames and computers.
Groundbreaking for its visuals first and foremost, TRON blends classic fantasy with (for the time) new-school tech to create an awe-inspiring science fiction film with a fun action-packed ride and a lovely synth score by Wendy Carlos.
Jeff Bridges seems to be the only one having fun, playing a videogame designer who gets sucked into a Day-Glo world of his own creation. It’s like Alice in Wonderland acted out on a kids’ Lite-Brite toy.
It's intelligently conceived (on a visual level, at any rate) and largely good fun. Steven Lisberger, an East Coast animator, directed the visuals, combining the actors and computer graphics with satisfying results.
Tron is loaded with visual delights but falls way short of the mark in story and viewer involvement. Steven Lisberger has adequately marshalled a huge force of technicians to deliver the dazzle, but even kids (and specifically computer game freaks) will have a difficult time getting hooked on the situations.
It is beautiful -spectacularly so, at times - but dumb. Computer fans may very well love it, because Tron is a nonstop parade of stunning computer graphics, accompanied by a barrage of scientific-sounding jargon. Though it's certainly very impressive, it may not be the film for you if you haven't played Atari today.
The best visual design in the world doesn't mean a thing unless there's someone around with a rudimentary sense of story. Jeff Bridges, playing the human hero sucked into the machine, has to carry the film's entire burden of charm and appeal; he seems to have freaked out under the strain, turning in some surpassingly weird, alienating work.
I don't know about anybody else but I really quite like this movie. While I did love its concept, I do agree some parts are difficult to comprehend at times and at others there is a slow rhythm making the film not quite as compelling as it would have liked. Regardless, I still like TRON a lot, especially for the superb effects and visuals and unique sound effects, both assets of which are quite ahead of their time. Also the soundtrack is very memorable and fits perfectly, and even with the odd stilted moment the dialogue intrigues. The direction is good enough and serves its purpose well in the more action-packed moments, and I did like the characters and acting. Jeff Bridges is charming and likable with a cool character, while David Warner comes close to stealing the show. All in all, a very intriguing film then and now and ahead of its time. 8/10 Bethany Cox
Ok, quality wise this movies not....great, but as an example of early 80's sci-fi this movie is amazing! the world they set up is awesome and the characters are pretty fun to watch. overall I like this movie, is it perfect? No not even close! but is it cool and fun? Heck yes!
Really much ahead of its time. So much so that one of the most incredible stories about this movie is the tragedy surrounding the "Best Visual Effects" nomination it didn't receive (more on it in the Special Features of the film or here on IMDb). And it wasn't even that long ago that they seems to have viewed this as the act of a "witch" (my conclusion for their strange decision). The Dude plays it very straight aside from that. Although his set storylines (and the console playing while "getting into character") are another fascinating tale in and of themselves. The film itself was heavily sci-fi at the time. Even though it never happened, the movie itself has held up rather well.
Tron is a good thriller which is fun and thrilling to watch. Movie's on the point and pacing is also good except the climax which was little bit prolonged. The story is ahead of it's time but the visuals were very bad. It may try to ruin your experience but then they have excuse of less budget. Overall, the movie is enough for you to get entertained.
