While the film does take its time stepping out on its own and out of the shadows of Aladdin and its "tale as old as time" story (Long's own words), Wish Dragon is a heartwarming, charming film with a great message and lovely characters.

The moral of the story, “the power of human friendship,” must have taken 33 seconds to come up with. But some of the sight gags — Long disguising himself as human, the two of them escaping the bad guys by donning a dragon parade costume — are a stitch.

Very good movie. It idd reminds me of Aladdin, but that is a good thing. If critics give it a mower score for it, i definitely do NOT agree with them

As a Chinese Australian I absolutely loved the entire movie. The characters were dynamic, the story pacing had great rythm, and this was the first animated movie that I felt truly represented Chinese characters well. I also watched this is Mandarin for added nostalgic effect.
