The second season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan will premiere Aug. 14 on Starz, and the network has already released a first look at the season, which you can see via a teaser trailer, below.

Set in the 1990s, Season 2 of Raising Kanan will see the titular character (played by MeKai Curtis) coming back to Queens, N.Y. unsure of how his future with the family business (his mother, Raquel "Raq" Thomas, played by Patina Miller, is in control over the city's drug trade). He will also be searching for the truth about his past in light of a secret about Detective Malcolm Howard (Omar Epps).

Meanwhile, Raq is looking to expand that business, even into hostile Mafia territory, and Lou-Lou (Malcolm Mays) is trying to get his emerging record label off the ground. Raq will struggle to hold the family together, but she will also stop at nothing to do so.

"I know we got our differences, but at the end of the day, we blood," the teaser says.

Raising Kanan will stream Sundays at midnight on the Starz app and all of the network's on-demand platforms, but it will air linearly at 9 p.m. beginning Aug. 14.

Raising Kanan is the third in the Power dramatic universe from the cable network and executive producer Courtney A. Kemp. The original series, which ran from 2014 to 2020, has a 61 Metascore from critics, while Raising Kanan does not currently have a score. There is also Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force, which premiered earlier this year.

Raising Kanan also stars London Brown, Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$$, Shanley Caswell, and Antonio Ortiz, with Quincy Brown and Toby Sandeman recurring. In addition to Kemp, creator and showrunner Sascha Penn, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Shana Stein, Bart Wenrich, and Kevin Fox serve as executive producers.
