Gotham Knights is watchable for committed fans of the genre or DC completists, but it mostly feels like another test of the franchise’s coattails (or cape tails). Mainly, the show fuels the perception that despite the character’s durability, it’s possible to dip into the Batcave once too often.
With the lone exception of Misha Collins’ Harvey Dent, every main character manages to be bland and uninteresting. The by-the-numbers mystery plot and the meager action scenes do little to take advantage of the rich tapestry that is the Batman mythos.
People kept telling me it was bad, but it honestly was pretty interesting. there were like a lot of unexpected things but I think mostly why people keep on saying it’s bad is because they add a new characters and I don’t even think they watch the show.
It's never seen before group of bat brats and joker's daughter. The production, lighting and cinematography is excellent. There is so much heart put into by writers, showrunners and actors and crew and even costumes to potray the minutest details, kudos actually to them. There is trans and bisexual representation in main cast. Misha Collins amazingly plays never explored before story of harvey dent and his transformation to two face which is worth watching. The level of story development and mysteries that are shown and even the villain group called the court of owls is quite gripping. The entire show deserves multiple watches because every time you can discover some fascinating detail you might have missed. This show is brilliant.
This show is progressing very well, and I think it could be 2 or a million times better than the original Gotham series if its seasons go up. Character development in the series is great actors do not reply to fans from instagram except everything is good even now in a low-budget series and only max 50 thousand followers but blue tick instagram is enough for their ego even if they are a star they probably do not see people other than that other than that the series is good. I sensed an air of ezra miller in the guy who played Turner
When you give showrunners who already ran a show into the ground, aka Batwoman, a new toy to play with, all one can expect are the same results. Atrocious writing, teen characters with zero appeal or charisma, cheap sets and confused storylines.
Gotham Knights ticks all these boxes and like Batwoman, fated for cancellation.
Where do I start? The **** course, I start with the writing. I couldn't make it through the first episode before feeling the absolute necessity of coming here to write a review. The writing is actually terrible in a multifaceted way. First and foremost, it's lazy. For instance, Turner finds his dad's secret bat cave right after he is informed that his dad was Batman. Not because he had a feeling he might know where it would be, but because he randomly threw a glass at it..... again, IMMEDIATELY after he found out his dad was batman. He went an entire life time without finding this bat cave; how convenient he found it so quickly. Add to that, the fact that the secret access to the bat cave was WAY too easy for people to find. Parties take place at Wayne manor and all that needed to happen was for somebody to lean on the stone and viola...Bruce Wayne's secret is exposed.
The trio of "criminals" who are framed for the murder of Bruce Wayne are just absurd. I lived half of my life in the narcotics/criminal world.....I have never seen criminals like this before. And I doubt I ever will. Because teenagers who actually are hardened criminals, don't look or talk like these kids do. Outlandish villains are a part of Gotham's lore but this is just stupid. The "criminal" teens are being interviewed by the police and Harvey Dent gets mad at his partner for potentially dead naming one of them. I almost died of cringe. Duela tells the police that they need to get their story straight and I'm thinking: Uhh, lady....they have you at the scene of the crime, with your prints on the gun, and large sums of money that you recently received for what appears to be a contract killing. They have you dead to rights; they don't need to "get their story straight" at all.
I could go on and on and I only watched 30 minutes. The people who wrote this show need to find another career path because this is downright pathetic. I will say that it all was visually appealing and the production value didn't seem that low. It's a shame because with talented writers who weren't politically driven, this show could have been really great. Instead, we are left with dialogue that could have been written by teenagers. A show for teenagers shouldn't be written by morons who have the brains of teenagers. But that's what we got from the CW....again. The CW is an ****. The radical leftist agenda is a failing one that is stripping money from these giant companies. The only thing that keeps them going is massive amounts of money being pumped into them through a line of credit based on their ESG scores. Thanks Blackrock for all you do.
What is the point of a show in batman universe that hates batman ? They seem more interested in seeing how many DEI tick boxes they can squeeze in than actually writing a good show, continuity errors are abundant, logic leaps plentiful and 0 engaging characters.
