From the casting to the writing to the production design, we get the adaptation of The Lightning Thief that we have been wanting for over a decade to see, and there is nowhere to go but up.
The casting is on point, particularly Simhadri, who brings a lovely gentleness to Grover. .... “Percy Jackson” works for kids and adults thanks in part to the attention to detail in casting those guest stars.

I loved this one, it was a great adventure. I hope it gets a second season. the actors for the main characters were perfect and the creatures were cool

Percy Jackson And The Olympians tells a straightforward quest story with good writing and well-defined characters, but takes its time to set up Percy’s story without dragging the show to a halt.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” probably won’t be the next big thing, but enough kids will enjoy it, and maybe even learn a bit along the way.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians comes roaring out of the starting gate like a raging minotaur, before settling into a slower-moving groove that plays a little too much like another Harry Potter wannabe, only for demigods instead of wizards. Still generally fun, the Disney+ series doesn’t quite catch lightning in a bottle, but as coming-of-age sagas go this half-blood isn’t half bad.
This show will be fighting to survive in challenging terrain. But in the two episodes provided for review, at least, we’re off to an encouraging start.
The plot points, at least based on the four episodes made available to press for review, map neatly onto the novel. Largely missing from this new adaptation, though, are Percy’s whip-smart, sassy narrative voice, the coherent world-building of the novels, and, most importantly, Riordan’s quicksilver pacing.

Mediocre. This could have been so much better. Instead, it's bland and tasteless. I should not be reminded of parts of the movie that I liked better.

They changed quite a lot of scenes that took away the chance for character growth and the actual plot. Like how Annabeth already saw Luke at the end, or the moment he meets Zeus and Poseidon. The fighting scenes were a bit lackluster and didn't do them justice, like how they handled Medusa or the Harpies. They also made it seem like they're making excuses for the gods and how they treat their children, which undermines Luke's point and why so many demigods joined him.
The parallels between Medusa and Sally, and after that Medusa and Annabeth was a very smart addition as it starts to show how Athena abuses people.

I have viewed the (2) Episode Premire and have concluded the intent to undo the betrayal of the movies to the source material is a major fail. The author of the books has stated they were against the casting of adults to play the child characters of the books. Now you have the opportunity to have more say in the series and you cast the children yet still do what the movies did and play to the hollywood template of drama and basic character stupidity. I am not watching a reimagine book, I am watching the same story told with children and different adult actors. These TV Series are no more challenging than attempting to walk blindfolded.
