Snowfall is lean, mean and precise. Though it fictionalizes and chronicles a depressing (and violent) American crisis, it belongs on everyone’s must-watch list this summer.
Well-produced and particularly well-acted newcomer with a lot of moving parts, potentially too many.

How does this get low reviews from the critics? This just oozes coolness. I feel like riding around in GTA San Andreas listening to the oldies station. I'm not that deep into the story yet, but I'll definitely keep watching just for the atmosphere alone.

SEASON 1
Snowfall doesn’t get all the way there in season one, but it comes further than you’d expect. And inside its veins runs something vital and alive and different.
This is all to say that Snowfall is a better written show than it is a visual show, a grand, tragic story that is admirably inclusive but struggles to reach a personal level.
The series, which carries the tagline “How crack began,” has style and a strong lead performance from Idris, but it’s too familiar, especially early on, of other, better drug sagas--more methadone than the real fix.
Snowfall takes a while to get going--and has a tough time, at least in its first two hours, meshing its three main storylines into a pulse-pounding narrative.
Billing itself as the story of "how crack began," Snowfall is really just a collection of cliches and set pieces you've already seen in other, much better narcodramas.
The show is stylish and already shows promise of some very interesting storylines. I love the fact that we are presented with three wildly different perspectives of the same issue (the burgeoning cocaine epidemic). It's early on, but I'm impressed with the writing, acting, and the overall feel of the show. John Singleton's influence is definitely felt; especially in the scenes and atmosphere surrounding South Central L.A.

What **** about this show is that it spreads itself too thin. I don't care at all for Teddy's or Gustavo's plotlines. They're uninteresting characters, plain and simple. What's even worse is that these plots tear down a potential one; that being Franklin's, which should be the focal point of the entire show to be honest. However, instead the potential of his story is constantly bogged down by the other character's days splitting into his own and not leaving enough time or momentum for a fully satisfying episode.

if this is John Singletons best since Boys in the Hood, then everything else he produced must have been utter garbage. The more they try to convince you that the CIA is responsible for the crack epidemic the more you start to doubt that its true. Starts out good, by season 4 its drowning in victim-hood. Avoid or they`ll keep making this crap.

What is with all these new shows making the same mistake. Too many storylines that I don't care about. Here you have (sorry don't know the names yet) , young african american male, CIA dude, Central American Contra guy, Mexicans, Israeli gang. Plus the hoards of secondary characters Just following two of these would have been plenty. Watched 3 episodes yet and they are getting slower as they progress.
