The Fighting Season, a six-part documentary produced by Ricky Schroder is as gripping as a very good feature film, but better because it’s all very real.
It's a series that is at turns dull (Army big wigs doing meet-and-greets with Afghan leaders) and in other moments harrowing as it puts viewers in the trenches as insurgents attack American troops.
The humor and language are rough and there's a constant sense of wariness about everything from IEDs to the loyalty of some locals.
