Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia is a standard installment into the series. Despite having fun and creative gameplay, there are still a few glitches to be patched. There is an urge when playing to explore further and see things in closer detail. Still, the game is fun to play and easy for younger players to take part with combat and solving puzzles. The game is a positive step in the right direction for the franchise.
This game mostly builds on what we know from the previous game, but just a little bit better. The gameplay is more varied, the challenge is more present and the co-op feature is a lot of fun. All positive points, were it not for the fact that the presentation is a bit dull and there are some sloppy mistakes here and there. The lack of more language options, given the target audience, is also a shame. But if you look past this, it is an entertaining experience.
More successful than Asterix & Obelix XXL 3, OSome Studio's work has a few flaws, but can count on its most successful Celtic atmosphere, its fun fights (with a host of interactive objects) and its humor. It's not perfect yet, but the Lyon team doesn't lack much to cap the best titles of the genre. The big leap for 2023?
The Ram From Hibernia is a quite entertaining (but short) experience for younger audience, but it feels like another missed opportunity for OSome Studio to elevate this beloved franchise to an higher level of gameplay.
