Ignoring the numerous bugs plaguing this game, there are many likable aspects of this game. The game as a whole is a pretty simple game with very few mechanics other than health, food, materials, and ammo. This game isn't very deep, but it's a good game if you are looking for something to be able to beat in under 2 hours.
great game just some bugs that i hope will be fixed in the future and make it an even better game than it already is
examples of some bugs in the game are that some times you cant access your base's storage menu and sometimes zombies glitch through the fence
Overall a fun game to play if you're in the mood for a simple time killer.
The graphics are a minimal but not so much you can't tell what you're supposed to do.
The actual gameplay is where this takes a little hit, The game feels very sparse in its options, You can upgrade your base, gather food, Weapons and save survivors. That's the entire game.
Being it's early in its life, newer updates may bring more enjoyable options, Until then for a free game, it's worth a download.
Way too many bugs that are STILL in the game even though listed in year old reviews. First game I played, the zombies were able to walk through the upgraded walls to my base and destroy it, while I had to walk all the way around to the gate. Another big let down is the collision engine. Aside from feeling like I have a 16-direction controller, your character slows down way too much when rubbing up against anything, This could have been a great free game if they would have fixed those big game killers.
At first glance, this free game is a cute minimalistic zombie survival game.
And it really doesn’t get deeper than that. You could play this entire game’s content alone in a few hours. To be completely honest I enjoyed it for about 20 minutes while my hopes were still up and the content was still new to me, but after that it is a very dull game with many frustrating bugs.
For example, once you’ve upgraded your base as far as possible and deforested only maybe a quarter of the map to do it, you can go to any one of three “dungeons”. But be prepared to experience enemies glitching through barriers and becoming stuck in an encounter that requires you to kill all the enemies in that area... which you can’t do because your bullets can’t pass through the borders to kill that straggler. This will force you to commit suicide to reload as a brand new character with 0 resources and none of the items/weapons you had before. If you manage to get back to your previous zombie body you might be able to kill it and win only your bullets back, but then if you go on to beat the dungeon, you could face the loading error that causes the world to think you are in the entrance of a different dungeon, the floor will never load, your character will be invisible and unmovable, and you will be forced once more to give up your life and your loot to continue the game.
You can also rescue other npcs and do simple quests for them before they need an escort quest to take them back to your base, but if you die or encounter an error in the middle of the escort, they will disappear from the world until you enter and exit a dungeon or area that requires loading for them to reappear. By the way, in the game there is a hunger system that is constantly draining your life, and the world seems to never have enough food to be found in it.
Dying therefore becomes very easy when the zombies are not even a challenge.
Lucky enough to have actually found a huge cache of food for once? Well drop everything, run back home, and stand there while your base slowly drains you of your excess inventory so you can finally eat. But wait, your house can only hold 100 food and you somehow have 200? Watch helplessly as it keeps draining your food into the void. All that extra food disappears.
Want to play multiplayer? Have fun actually staying in the screen with whoever takes the lead because it doesn’t split. That’s if you can even get out of the base without it somehow making a small hoard of players when you only wanted one or thinking you are playing with a keyboard and changing the controls on you so that it is impossible to play.
So what else could be fun about this game?
Nothing, really. Even the music of the game is one track, some nature sounds with birds chirping. The different “biomes” they talk about really only means the annoying swamp filled with crocodiles that don’t even chase you and a functionless “witch house”. The car that you can drive is not even worth it when the map is so small and you get stuck on every single stump, mailbox and object that should be destructible but isn’t.
Trying to collect anything other than bullets and wood from trees becomes annoying when the materials fling everywhere and float back down to the ground instead of there being some sort of magnetic draw towards your character. Especially in this game, you can’t jump, so if a donut is too far away over a table or on top of a wall/rock, kiss it goodbye.
For a game that just came out this year, it plays like something that would have come out 10 or more years ago. And they want to ask money for add-on guns and vehicles??? Honestly this game is something only young kids would be satisfied with. Like, the type of kids that have been sheltered from video games their whole life until now and were given this game to play. I only give it a 1 because I like the visual style. Don’t sacrifice even an hour to this game.
