Fae Farm is by far my favourite all-around simulator to date. With its cute style, creative creatures and special attention to what players want from their sim games, Phoenix Labs has delivered an outstanding title.
Fae Farm is one fun farming sim with tons to keep you busy for many in-game months as well as a large world to explore beyond the farm. The only thing it's missing is a substantial family system so pick it up if you're more into the farming and adventuring side of things.

If, on the one hand, Stardew Valley has become the ultimate farming sim, Fae Farm has the potential to become the ultimate cozy cooperative farming sim. Fae Farm's philosophy is just one: to make the experience of a farming simulator as relaxing as possible by removing everything that might get in the way. To do this, it takes the complex and diverse systems and mechanics of farming simulators and strips them of responsibilities, dull repetition, the most time-consuming grind, punishments and frustrations, then covers it with a cozy environment, full of relaxing tasks, with music and visuals that, on the whole, work in its favor.
From its Cozy Score system to the fact a warm beverage will grant a special buff to better handle the rain, the world is full of creative design choices and small touches that make the title feel like a sort of love letter to the cozy genre. Fae Farm is a game that's easy to sink many hours into, and with post-launch content already planned, it's exciting to think about what the future holds for the already expansive title.
Fae Farm adds a lot of great quality-of-life improvements to the farming sim genre and makes magic with its soft and comfy art style. It’s unfortunate that it falls short in a few important areas such as the interactions you can have with NPCs, because the rest of the game is incredibly solid. It does also take a long time to get going, and those first days in the game will feel a bit like a slog, but once you start uncovering the more fantastical side of the island there is a lot of amazing stuff to discover. If you are looking for a new farming sim to try, especially one with magical elements, Fae Farm might just scratch that itch.
Fae Farm feels consigned to simply being the hot new thing in the cozy community, rather than an experience that’s as memorable and beloved as the games it has done so much to build upon.
I won’t say Fae Farm isn’t satisfying in some ways. Ticking boxes in many of the main and side quest checklists did prompt a response in me that made me want to keep playing. I did enjoy the ambiance and some of the ideas and concepts are sound. But the best way I can describe it is that it feels like Phoenix Labs decided it wanted to make a farming game, but then somehow made it feel like farming, ranching, and connecting with the community aren’t the focus of Fae Farm. I often felt it seemed like an action game that just so happens to include these farming elements as you’re engaging in crafting to head into the next dungeon.

Pixelation, loading, crashes, typos and missing descriptions.
Selection issues and some functions are not easy to use due to clear lack of polishing.Buggy interaction with animals.
Fast travel menu is my personal hell.Redeeming quests is inconsistent as sometimes you have to interact twice just to finish it - one time to report back or deliver items and then a second time to actually redeem the quest.
Collecting produced items menus also inconsistent: for some item types one button is enough to collect all when production ends for other you need to select collect and then collect each pile individually despite de menus being identical.
You make money and are motivated to do a lot of artisanal goods. However on the daily summary all of those classify as other which is hilarious to me for some reason.
No involvement with NPCs and side quests the game leaves you with an heavy feeling of “go fetch”.
The main storyline is well built but advances so well independently of the rest that you end up not having any reason to complete side quests since the rewards are not indispensable or helpful for the main game progression.
There is ONE disabled person in a world full of magic. The poor boy cannot chose to have an able body through magic, has what appears to be a wooden wheelchair but at the same time lives on top of a “mountain” surrounded by water, hills and stairs and is clearly there just because you know token handicap to sell more and have less backlash.
There is really no need to have more than one farm and having to travel back and forth quickly becomes an annoyance and also doesn’t sit well with players like me that feel like anything you can’t easily see, use or interact easily is wasted “real estate” that makes you feel guilty for being wasted.
Where this game is good is the main intention of the storyline or the vision they had for it, the way you can safely navigate through the world without much consequence or fear is also enjoyable.
They copied a lot of mechanics and features from **** valley, ACNH, BOTW, and others and some of those features they actually made it better.
However, good animation and intentions and a better tool wheel system is not enough to pay 60€. For a “smaller” (as in 15/20h) game with a smaller price point all of the improvement points above would be totally acceptable.
But for a game that is supposed to make you feel relaxed and to consume your entire existence with its activities the little details soon become a deterrent to keep being invested.
If I could get my money back I would as at around 7 days of gameplay nothing gets better, only worse.
I will keep playing solely because I want to see the end of this and because if you think I will give you my money for free without taking at least a heavy dose of satisfying spite home then you are seriously delulu. I’ll keep you posted if my experience improves

All in all this game is enjoyable. There is however a astonishing amount of lacking love for details. Different NPCs all and always say the same things. Only very specific furniture gives you boosts instead of all of it chiming in together. Farm animals have three moods, the upper being comfortable and you only have to treat them well for one day until they love being with you and nothing new happens. I love fishing and critter catching, but eben this gets boring really fast if there's only like 5 different things to catch each.
I've only been playing for a handful of hours, so this might still change, but so far the farming that should be in the middle of everything seems like an added afterthought to the story. This is definitely and absolutely not worth 60€, the gameplay is not nearly deep enough to warrant the price. Private thought: The world seems loveable, so I don't really understand this lack of love in everything else. Maybe they ran out of time with the release...?

I was really excited for this game. I preordered it and purchased it digitally as well. It’s just not fun. There isn’t a robust, thrilling experience to be had. Everything feels superficial. The NPCs are boring and say the same things each time. You can’t hand someone a gift. I have some slow down or lag at times. You can only sell a little bit of your items each day. This game is worth $30 tops.
