Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli is a very tough, rewarding game that caters to a more hardcore audience. Racing simulation addicts and car buffs will love the way the title looks and handles.
If you miss classic late 90s racing games where you had to EARN your right to new content through repetition, memorization, skill and a bit of frustration you'll enjoy this game. Don't be fooled, this is no simulation but rather a hard arcade game with inconsistent AI and physics. May pass as a sinulation to the young crowd or the casual console gamer but it's no more than a hard arcade game where you have to BEAT the game by yourself. No **** rewind, no stupid babysitting nonsense. Interesting concept of having to unlock ALL the content through racing. Honestly, I've enjoyed it quite a lot. It's got a few flaws, but it's definitely charming. System 3 have done a good job, you can tell they come from another era of gaming. Happens to be mine.
Solid and enjoyable racing sim. Few bits and pieces which could be better hence the rating, but overall far more good points than bad. Ferrari fans will particular be pleased with the various cars, past and present, which are on offer here (especially the FXX). Tracks and handling are well presented. Only minor points are for people who aren't racing fans, this may become a game which will test the patience. Races can become repetative. Not a problem for me, but casual fans, this will become off putting.
By far the best game from Eutechnyx, it is still behind other titles in this genre. Recommended only to diehard Ferrari fans, or those who look for a more realistic style of driving. [Sept 2008]
Although not as visually spectacular as "GT5: Prologue" or as deep and exciting as Microsoft's "Forza 2," Ferrari Challenge is a very competent racer with a clear focus: Ferraris.
While it can't compare to the likes of Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport 2, Ferrari Challenge proves to be a satisfying drive for the fanatical Ferrari gamers out there.
But sim racing fans will find it sorely lacking in key details, and arcade racing fans will find the game far too boring and long-winded for their taste.
The game isn't that great sorry... first of all the main "F430 Challenge" (3 seasons, 7 races each) is kinda boring, the difficulty definitely doesn't scale well or even does a decent enough job of being consistent across all tracks, the comparing to youtube videos, the Ferrarri 430 doesn't even sound that accurate. The same goes for other cars as well, their hood actually kinda looks longer than in real life and most of them have this generic turbo sound when you speed up even though they're not turbocharged. For a game dedicated to Ferrari cars, that's kinda disappointing. Overall not a great game... still better than GT6 though...
I love **** like Gran Turismo, but this game is very frustating. The balance of the KI ist ugly. The difficulty setting in the menu has no noticeable effect. Some KI-Drivers are extremly slow and a few other extremly fast. That makes no fun for me.
The game was very unwelcoming when you first started and I wasn't able get to grips with the gameplay. The tutorials barely helped if at all and I grafted hours into this game to try and rectify this and ultimately enjoy myself, but it wasn't to be. This was pretty rare for me. The wow factor in this game was nowhere near to be seen and for me this game was nothing but absolutely abysmal. Total trash. A complete waste of my money and probably one of the worst, if not the worst game I've ever played.
