Blows by the competition like it was sitting on jack stands, and is the new high-water mark by which all other driving games will be judged.
It is the best looking, best driving game (even if the racing is pretty ordinary) out there.

I have been playing racing games since I was a wee little lad, I didn't play this one back then but the first GT as a kid and went back to start playing this game recently and was genuinly surprised at how awsome it is, there are many different models/packages of cars I didnt even know existed but now do and some interesting concept cars. I'm not super far in but ive gotten the A1 liscense and the amount of speed in the RC92 made me realize ok I am in for some serious ****. The handling for the cars still holds up great the tracks you get to play are fun and feel more alive the most modern games with people taking pictures or running to get out of your way as your pass and ducking back behind walls if you take a corner super tight the level of tuning you can do to your cars is amazing I turned a r32 Gtr vspec n1 into a full on rallycar I can't think of another game except the forza horizon series that lets you do that but the handling/tuning/courses don't even compare in those to this the rally physics almost feel like the newer dirt rally games and those are over a decade newer the in game soundtrack is great although I wish the song didnt change when you go to a event but I can live that If you read all this first of all thanks and second what the hell are you still doing here and not playing this legendary game!

A fabulously executed game that remains a consistent joy to play for many, many moons. But it lacks innovation. [March 2005, p.120]
The basic “buy, race, upgrade, race, buy, and repeat” routine is still there. There is no damage, no online, and the soundtrack is questionable. However, everything else so close to perfect, it’s hard to resent these shortcomings.
We all fell in love with GT the first time out because it was so unprecedented, but on your fourth visit, you'll really wish the damn thing would evolve and live up to its potential. Still, it's riveting racing, it has its own undeniable charms. [JPN Import; March 2005, p.68]
GT4 has more limitations than previous games on what you can and can't do, too many menus locked until you'll reached certain criteria.
Yes, there are tweaks, better graphics and further development on the cars’ physics, but nothing groundbreaking. For the most part it seems that the past four years have been spent improving the playback of your car whizzing around the track once you’ve finished the race.
This carefully crafted game is a love letter to car fanatics as me and yeah i guess

More or Less, more or less, I didn't like the campaign mode, I just liked playing with my brother, and the amount of cars it has should have a code to release them all at once! There are people who don't have patience and I am one

Being terrible at driving games I initially liked this because it felt easier than previous instalments thanks the the B-Spec mode, but after a while and being able to afford expensive cars sooner the game gave me less satisfaction. Still technically and graphically proficient though and was enjoyable.

visuals worse then GT3, ugly menus, way too many car duplicates, barely 30 race cars that are new to GT, terrible cameras, AI is a joke (apart from speedster trophy), grand valley and midfield were ruined, 24 hour races (JUST WHY PD), 4 tracks were cut from GT3 (WHERE TF IS ROUTE 11), some cars disappeared after GT3 (Its been 22 years, where tf is the GT-One Road Car?), terrible post-game, and lastly, reverse tracks are criminally underused
And thats, every single problem with GT4 imo
