The perfect mix of button-hammering and technique, and all at a suitable difficulty level. The battles stay fresh thanks to all the different attacks and the cast are odd enough to keep you interested without resorting to cliches. [Issue # 149, p.74]
The challenging nature and plethora of attacks allows you to go back to the game quite a bit. While it’s a pretty wacky game, it’s all in good fun, and more importantly, it’s actually funny.
So, yes, the controls can be problematic, and, yes, the game doesn't look all that hot, but God Hand is also fun and funny, and it's really these latter two factors that make the game well worth playing. [Dec. 2006, p.76]
God Hand's high level of difficulty and disappointing lack of technical innovation places it in the love it or hate it category. One thing's for sure though: it definitely should not be overlooked.
There’s something about “God Hand” that just feels unfinished to me. Whereas previous Clover Studio games were almost polished to a fault, this one seems too rough to be complete.
another one, and another one, and another one.... The PS2 just has so many bangers its hard to stop going back to this great console, this game is absolutely a must play despite its biggest flaw which is being so repetitive but the combat is really nice, the custom strings you can do with your moves you can do your own style of combos and play how you like, just don't google which is the best combo chain there is in this game because where is the fun in that? experiment for yourself what this game has to offer you. The bosses in this game are hilarious, some can be cheap and dumb and salt inducing but its a really nice game. Totally recommend it.
Divisive game. I don't like it but I see what it's going for. Play it for 30 minutes and if you like it you'll keep liking it and if you don't that won't change.
The combat is brutal but dying has no punishment except going to last checkpoint so whatever, moves have stats but they don't matter, pick whatever you like best. There's hidden moves to use so google how thise work those to chew through the enemies with stupidly large hp. The difficulty system adapting to you is fun but really stupid in practice, the enemies get new **** flatten you with them and back down you go. Enemies are the same all the way through really, some differences sonetimes but not really. Tall guys, short mooks, fat heavies then dominatrixes. Demons are another breed but again, about 3 types you'll see rarely. Group fighting is crap, spam sweep/rohndhouse to fish for counterhits to launch.
Again, if you love the game from minute one you'll love it, if you bounce off it you'll not rebound.
On a personal note I never found it "fair" or "unfair" just poorly presented. Maybe if I'd played it back then I'd enjoy it more.
SummaryWith great power comes great responsibility. Play as a drifter bestowed with supernatural-like abilities who must confront the fate and responsibilities inherent with this new found power. Hand-to-hand combat is at its best when gamers unleash the power of the God Hand to deliver righteous punishment onto worthy enemies. Centuries ago, ...
