Motorstorm is pretty much the best off-road driving simulation ever to grace a console. The physics are so accurate, yet altered for arcade like effect, and feel so right that the development team must have had at least a couple Physics PhD’s on staff to pull off such a feat. [JPN Import]
As Xbox Fan, I love this PS Exclusive than any other exclusive games like Last of Us, God of War, etc. I got this back in a launch when I got my Xbox and PS3, it was a good game that plays this Racing game.
Beyond my memories and nostalgia of this game, this game succeeded in every aspect and set an extremely high bar for graphics and intuitive racing gameplay at the time when it was released. This is a game where you can buy it and can't stop playing it!
A truly excellent racing game, and a welcome addition to the PS3 canon. If it weren't for the lack of multiplayer this would score in the nineties. [JPN Import; Issue # 149, p.56]
The Japanese version feels like a demo - hugely entertaining for what it is, but severely truncated and ultimately disappointingly lacking on content. [JPN Import; Feb 2007, p.74]
The courses in MotorStorm are a real strong point. Well designed, they're challenging, but they also let you have fun. There aren't too many on offer - just eight - but every one of them is a sprawling playground for you to muck around in. [JPN Import]
Let's be excited about the fact that it still manages to feel incredibly fresh, immediate and exotic, in spite of its notoriety. Bolstered for its European release, it ought to be a classic, but right now it's simply excellent. [JPN Import]
One of Motorstorm's big successes is that it demands of you things that other racers don't even bother to ask. You'll have to learn every nook and cranny of the terrain before you can drive around courses with confidence. [JPN Import]
Motorstorm is one of the few racing games I like, others being NFS Most Wanted(first one), Fuel, and NFS Undercover. Very visceral feeling, fun, arcade racer. Now it is only $0.89 for a used copy, very worth it.
PRESENTATION: graphics are amazing for 2006. And so are the physics: very satisfying to bump around and tear up the mud. BUT the framerate can be very bad, far below 30fps at busy times. And the brown stages all kinda look the same. Even worse is that some rocks are literally hard to see because everything is a shade of brown. Not a fan of the music.
GAMEPLAY: all these different vehicles, and all the different routes on the tracks is a big part of the fun here. Along with the physics and arcade gameplay makes for a nice mix of realism and arcade. There are a few ramps that have wonky physics and make you crash, which can be frustrating.
I would give it an 8/10, but there is one glaring issue: crazy rubber-banding AI at higher difficulties. Not only is the AI *insanely* aggressive (literally every lap someone suicides to knock you off), but they are also laughably fast when you are ahead of them. It's a joke, at full-boost, big rigs overtaking you left and right without boosting. Furthermore, the content is a bit bare bones. Online and Time trial would've been fun, but I'm playing this when the servers are down, so reviewing it as such. Still, it's a fun game for a few bucks and I don't regret it 7/10
Motorstorm: Monument Valley. Truly the world's most brutal off-road racing game, and possibly one of the best off-road racing games of our generation.
Graphics are not the strong point of this game, but gameplay is. All vehicles are well designed as-well as the tracks.
its a bit fun iguess but the game just feels unpleasant to play. Its a shame that I didnt like the game because it could of been very fun and the maps were good but the driving is poor for a racing game.
this game is so boring the racing isnt fun and the graphics are bad unless you go into view mode where it shows the true potential of the ps3 with beautiful scenery the in game graphics are bad and there is nothing that seperates this from other games other then the fact that it ****
