Night Call's focus on story-telling and engaging atmosphere pays off as the developers mix in wonderful music and top quality animations to create one of the most unique experiences in recent memory.
Night Call is interesting in ways most games aren’t. It’s a game that humanizes people that usually get mockery. It’s so good at this that it overshadows the serial killer stuff. It can lose its steam thanks to some repetitive gameplay, but its shorter length prevents it from dragging on. Its design choices will turn away action-oriented players, but it’s a pleasant surprise if you want more compassion in your crime fiction.
I cant explain how much impressive game was with **** ambiance pulled me into it,the short stories was very powerful, its a visual-novel like game, just chill and read, little decisions and etc. .I loved the stories from ordinary people like you and i,the game really gives the dark atmosphere of ordinary peoples.
Hey, I thought it was pretty good. not a masterpiece but I feel as though it wasn't made to be one. for what it is I think its great and made me smile.
Night Call is a conversational adventure game that mix up an interesting and tense story with an intriguing comic visual style and cyberpunk reminiscences. A moody and solid experience for narrative seekers.
The characters you meet in Night Call are the stars of this noir-style thriller. Interestingly, the crime plot takes a backseat to meeting the residents of Paris and learning about their struggles and success. Unfortunately, the game becomes repetitive after the first case due to duplicated dialog and a lack of gameplay evolution.
A title that grabs your attention and has you hooked almost immediately. But after a while, the repetition and constraining design choices will put you off.
Night Call has the potential, setting, characters and plot to be an epic noir detective title, but instead of capitalizing on it, the developers feel like they’re too in love with the taxi driver premise to let the best aspects shine through. Instead of using my cunning to find a killer, I spent more time worrying about money and hearing the same conversations over and over. What started as a journey of intrigue and secrets quickly became underwhelming repetition.
It's more a visual novel than a game in classic sense of the word, but I enjoyed it very much. Core gameplay focuses on collecting clues and managing your resources - fuel, money and time. But the most important and engaging part of the game are your passengers - each one of them has their own unique story, motivations and goals. The dialogues are written with empathy, warmth and sense of humour. You can see they're inspired by real-life stories - during your nights you meet people from different ways of life. There were times when I was literally smiling at the screen when my passenger left my cab after a wholesome discussion. The investigation part could be more complex, but again - the value of this game is about connecting with each other without prejudice and trying to understand each other.
Some of the short stories (passangers) can be interesting, but the core story and gameplay loop leave much to be desired, mainly they are mostly missing.
I thought the game would be about making you feel like a detective, piecing things together, talking to potential suspects, trying to get them to slip up and talk, instead it was mostly talking to many characters about things seemingly unrelated to my investigation. Every now and then you will get “real” evidence or leads. But most of the time it felt like conversations were a waste of time. I wish it had more thought out conversations and a better plot to keep you at the edge of your seat. Instead it keeps you asking when will I get something useful out of this?
Great idea, poor execution. There isn't really any strategy, just talk to people and hope they give you a random clue, which you add to a very simplistic crime board. Some are categorized for you and the rest are either completely obvious or total guesses. You dont really get to strictly investigate or logic. There is no way even to make an educated decision about who to pick up or talk to. Setting and ambience are good.
Here's what made me give it up, though. The very obvious SJW agenda. I am so tired of this new cult, the preachings of which are far more aggressive, annoying, and ubiquitous than any other religion has been in my lifetime. I am glad I got to try before buying, which I will not do.
Summary Friend. Confidant. Therapist. Voyeur. As a cab driver working the Paris night shift, you are many things to different people. Your gift is getting people to talk; and in order to catch the serial killer who left you for dead, that’s exactly what you’ll need to do.
