Solid is the word I would use to describe H1Z1: Battle Royale on PlayStation 4. It’s not the prettiest of games or the most clever, but it does what it does really well and it is a great alternative for those who find all the tree chopping and base building in Fortnite very tiresome. H1Z1 is off to a great start on PlayStation 4.
H1Z1 gameplay fit perfectly between Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite with some new mechanics for this console version that makes the game faster to play. It's not a revolution for the genre but a solid game that provides lot of fun for everyone.
It is a great game. It has bugs, yes... but they kind of make it more human to me, like in the early days of multiplayer. It doesn't try to be flash or fancy, it is just gun play, driving and tactics. I saw many people criticise this FREE game and I think they are wrong, it has been the most fun I had on ps4. The graphics are not mind blowing but they don't need to be, it is a gamers game. I hope Daybreak keep working on it to make it as good as it can be, it is the original B.R after all and should be kept going for as long as possible.
Great start for an open beta! Really easy to be critical of the game but when people slate it for being not complete given its in beta then that is a bit ridiculous.
The gameplay is great. The look and feel is post apocolyptic which is what they are going for and generally there are very few bugs for a beta. Its great to play a battle royale game on PS4 without being blinded by childish cartoon characters and having to build tree houses to win. As for the critics who claim "its nothing on PubG", really.... because the original H1Z1 king of the hill was created by the PubG creator. They are essentially the same game.
Great start.
H1Z1 doesn't shake up the battle royale formula in any big way, but instead offers a simple, streamlined experience. It differentiates itself from its PC counterpart to its benefit by revamping the core systems at play, giving you just enough to work with in battle without being overwhelmed. But it's still missing diversity in its action that would create lasting appeal.
H1Z1 lacks identity, easily lost in a sea of militaristic shooters, battle royale or not, and that may be the main reason it won’t be the last man standing when the genre fad begins to fade away.
While H1Z1: Battle Royale doesn’t do anything particularly special yet, it sets up a solid foundation that can be expanded with future events and additions, a la Fortnite.
Being the first battle royale game may have been enough a few years ago, but in the current market where Fortnite is the biggest thing in the world, it takes greater ambition than “ugly but functional” to stand out. The best thing I can say about H1Z1 is that it’s free, but even so, I still can’t recommend it when its biggest competition is also free and offers a far better version of this same premise.
As a alternative to Fortnite, this is actually pretty good! I like how fast the matches play out, and the gunplay is pretty satisfying, although I think the ads could use a little fine tuning. The map isn't very interesting either.. but these are things that could all improve as time passes, but for now I think it has translated over to Ps4 pretty well! Runs pretty good on my PS4 slim.
Garbage game. Shooting mechanics ****. This game relies on vehicles to barely escape the gas. Who even plays this pile of garbage. If your trying to find a match, you’ll only get like 20 players. Hit markers sometimes do not register. Overall, the worst battle Royale game ever.
SummaryPlay the Battle Royale game that started it all. Now includes AUTO ROYALE. Drive into battle as part of a team-based vehicle of mayhem. Fight for power-ups to equip your squad and upgrade your ride.
