Masterful combat, a heap of interactive elements, and delightfully indulging gore all interweave to create something close to a masterpiece.

When it sinks its fangs into you, Mordhau has dozens of hours worth of head chopping, arrow shooting, character customizing, build testing, and lute playing to offer.

High skill cap melee combat is equally rewarding and daunting, though the archery and support roles could use some work.

Mordhau is a slap in the face and a pleasure at every moment. Much more than a spiritual sequel to Chivalry, it's an exciting game. Deep, easy to understand but difficult to master, it's a breath of fresh air for video games.

Mordhau is like a spiritual successor of Chivalry. Its cleverly-designed combat system and its Frontline mode will give you many, many hours of fun.

Mordhau in the best hack 'n slash online game on the market, with some limits.

On paper, Mordhau could look like any medieval brawler as we have seen for years. But in reality, it knows how to stand out with a combat system that is halfway between the arcade game and the realistic one, and a rather advanced personalization. We only regret the low number of cards and game modes, hoping that it will be completed in the near future via a few updates. However, everything is counterbalanced by a chubby humour that hits the target and will give you (at least) a few dozen hours of fun, with or without friends.

I've accumulated over 80 hours on this game, most of which is from the Beta phase. I spent hours of joy fighting bots and even more hours fighting players, most of them were actually pretty experienced and yet the combat still managed to look realistic and as the creators intended, whereas in Chivalry I found myself quitting because the skills of the experienced players ruined the immersion.

I'm looking forward to see where this game is going in terms of skill based matchmaking, more maps and such.

It really makes you feel immersed in a medieval battle. A shout out for the beautifully crafted sound design, especially the horseback riding part.

Its adds a few new things to do in combat and fixes some stuff but its nothing special or original. Horde mode is pretty meh as well considering anyone can camp in a tower to be immortal because ai cant climb ladders. I never understood why anyone would waste their time shooting fish in a barrel. Id probably give it an 8 if the launch wasn't a total mess for me. Expand

There is no skill require, there are about 5 moves a character can pull so it is very simplistic. The game-play is slow and clunky, the hit boxes are abysmal. The game pretty much devolves down to two moves, swing and block. Swing first and if they don't block you win, if they block you might loose. It is pretty much a guessing game for the most part. Archery and thrown weapons feel like they are being worked by someone who has never thrown something in their life, I question if the devs actually have every played a sport. There is so much wrong with the games battle systems, why someone swinging a small short sword swings at relatively the same speed as someone would swing a maul? Why does standing right next to a person allow someone to stab you with a giant two handed sword at the same rate as someone with a dagger. Shields for the most part play no role, it is just a game of smash with a two hander. The perks make no sense and are clearly imbalanced. The match making is insulting, most games are a **** show where one teams **** the other so hard you feel embarrassed if you win . When you enter a game and one team is entirely high level players and the other team doesn't have more than 3 people with double digit levels you should just leave or why not switch to the winning team as the game doesn't do any balance. The armor system is very very simple and mainly cosmetic. I guess plate mail isn't good at stopping someone from punching you. The thing is, it just isn't fun watching you either **** a team in or get ****ed, there is little to no middle ground in the game. One team is blue and once they get covered in blood so you can't tell their team anymore, a simple and embarrassing oversight. The tutorial is bad and the voice-overs for it are even worse. I don't think any of the devs have ever shot a bow either. The chat is full of garbage people. When I am not getting ganged up on I am dying to my team mates, seriously I have died more to teammates than enemies in some games. All around a slop show. Just don't buy it, your life will be better. Expand
