Super Meat Boy Forever - PAX West Trailer
Jan 17, 2021In a bold move, Team Meat has stirred the successful recipe of Super Meat Boy and has delivered a runner-type game in its sequel; SMBF. The procedural level generation algorithm seems to work wonders and the new art-style is modernizes the game. Very interesting ideas in the gameplay mechanics, and increased difficulty promise to keep you engaged for as long as you want to hone your skills. It never ends.
Jan 4, 2021Super Meat Boy Forever asks a lot of the player but also makes sure that they’ve got the tools to master its challenge while also being considerate enough to make each one approachable in bite-sized chunks. A perfectly-run level takes less than a minute and is divided up into sections that are rarely longer than ten seconds, but each second requires focus. And if that focus slips then a retry is instant with little time lost, making it easy to try again, and again, and again until Doctor Fetus finally realizes what a terrible idea it is to antagonize the Meat Boy/Bandage Girl family.
Jan 14, 2021Super Meat Boy was an incredibly good platformer, but this sequel is not as good as the original game and the reason is simple: Super Meat Boy Forever is now an autorunner. This makes the Team Meat game even harder than it was, and that affects to the gameplay itself transforming this game in something less fun than it could have been.
Jan 12, 2021While Super Meat Boy is arguably one of the best modern 2d platformers, the same cannot be said about Super Meat Boy Forever. The game abandons much of the identity of the original in order to try and offer players infinite replay value with a more stripped-down gameplay style. But rather than a game that encourages repeat playthrough, Super Meat Boy Forever is more fun to watch than it is to actually play.

This game is genuinely amazing.
In some ways even better than the original Super Meat Boy, the people saying that this game is a cheap mobile game are just straight up wrong. This game is **** incredible, like really man. The gameplay and level design are just as tight and fun as the original, the autorunning mechanic doesn't matter, it's easy to get used to it and fun as **** and the animation and visuals are drop-dead gorgeous. The ass-kickin OST by Ridiculon and Co is incredible, And I love the story and plotline we've got, FINALLY an actual story for Meat Boy and Bandage Girl that isn't just newgrounds humor, I love newgrounds humor but this is way more welcome. I actually prefer this than having Edmund draw dead fetuses and somehow terribly connecting this to Isaac. This game is an actual masterpiece and it deserves way more acclaim than what it has right now.… Expand
Jan 15, 2021I. I just cannot understand. They are saying this is not the sequel they are waiting for and they say that it disappointed them, saying thatI. I just cannot understand. They are saying this is not the sequel they are waiting for and they say that it disappointed them, saying that it is a cheap runner trash game. they... why?
First of all. Most people become instantly disinterested or dissapointed as soon as they discover that it is an auto runner, thinking it cannot be good. Because mobile autorunners are typically trash. this type of people often didn't even played the game, or played, but instantly quit as soon as they discover it is an autorunner. This is wrong, because for me it is very different from other aurorunners, it is more like a platformer in which you run automatically. It is definitely not a cheap mobile trash-type game. This is main the reason of hate toward this game, and also the most senseless one. Play it first. it is good. This game is not like what they thought. It is not like typical moblie autorunners.
The second reason is that they think it disappointed them as a sequel and it plays differently. They said it took away anything that made it so good. For this, I would say it is a completely worthy sequel. For me, reducing the controls make it possible to add more gimmicks. it also make the game fair and balaced instead of just being hard like the first game. (the first game is still fair and balanced, just too hard for my taste) I would say it's level design is even better than the original. The original has saws and a lot of hazards. just a lot of them. Forever has far more mechanic and things that made up some very clever level designs. The original, while you had control, is purely skill based. While Forever is a faster-paced auto runner, it added puzzle element that require you to think in order to beat. Procedurally generated levels doesn't made it any less good, in fact, it is not actually generated: It's levels are a in fact a bunch of smaller hand-crafted levels linked together procedurally. It is still has good level designs. like the original. it is a completely worthy sequel, with different, but still amazing platforming challenges. It is the change in genre that made it so good and unique, but it simply doesn't fit in many people's taste. It is a brave choice, i like it, but good changes doesn't always make people happy. It indeed has nearly everything that has made the original so good, and much more.
Another reason they hate is because the music is different. I don't have much to say about this one, but for me it is perfectly fine.
The animated cutscene is no doubt perfect. there's no argue. The animation is far, far better than the first one with far less violence, grosteque or vulgar humor, and much more cuteness and heartwarming moments. Nugget is awesome.
The different mechanics are also amazing. especially the dimension spiders in the other side.
This is my opinion. you can disagree but i have said all i can say. For me it is simply amazing. I admire their hard work. Thanks you, Tommy. for giving us such a good game.
A tip to those negative reviewers: never write a review again in your life. Those wrongful reviews will only turn people away from this gem. I mean no offense, but you guys are seriously wrong.
"A game ruined by greed and smartphone gaming. Disgusting to see super meat boy turned into this joke. Literally 1 button to end the game."
***This game contains no greed. guaranteed you didn't played it.
"Its just an mobile game that they threw onto other platforms. At the beginning this was also announced as an mobile only game. The gameplay is slow, the hitboxes from the saws are bad and the Controls are unresponsive."
***It is too good to be on mobile. it is too good for mobile standards. slow because the graphic settings were incorrect. try set that something-i-forgot to 0x. The controls are super responsive. this is false review may I say.
"Disregard the man who gives these game a 10 and speaks directly out of a thesaurus.
Tell you to take what you get."
***I, too, heavily disregard the mans who give it a low score despite having no further knowledge of the game. I played throught it, and it is good. I read this full review and it was seriously wrong. he didn't grabbed the real substance of the game at all.
All those **** idiot called this amazing gem a trash, corrupted by mobile market and greed, became a mobile trash like that, all because IN THIS GAME YOU AUTORUN, just because you got a less control, Doesn't mean this game is that bad. I know changes are hard to accept, but being an autorunner, in this case, only made it better. You lose some controls, But, In exchange you got massively clever puzzle design with great potential. and they didn't waste any of them.
In conclusion they are wrong. This game is perfect with almost nothing to nitpick. I would definitely like to play this game..
Thanks tommy for giving us such a good game.… Expand
Dec 28, 2020I was just as disappointed as these people crapping on the game when I heard it was an auto runner. But what Team Meat has done with thisI was just as disappointed as these people crapping on the game when I heard it was an auto runner. But what Team Meat has done with this game, it is still just as difficult, you still feel like a ninja pulling off the controls to make it thru one of the levels, the replays are still awesome showing all your attempts at once. In reality you wouldn't even want to control meat boy in this because there are too many other things your mind is digesting to get thru these levels. Also I think it's awesome that a keyboard is a legitimate way to play the game now, and it works awesome. Gamepad is awesome also. Anyway if you like the first then this is a must have. If you like N++ then this is also a must have. I'm telling you. I was a hater maybe 3 hours ago lol. Great game, Team Meat, please don't make us wait this long for the next one!!… Expand

I went into it blind just thinking it was sequel to the first and it was going to be great but when I got met with an auto runner it disappointed me, and for a full 20 dollars? Jan 5, 2021We were all prepared for this to not be Super Meat Boy 2, right? That's okay. But the Flash graphics, lack of tight controls, automatic levelWe were all prepared for this to not be Super Meat Boy 2, right? That's okay. But the Flash graphics, lack of tight controls, automatic level generation, massive sprites, sappy music, and yes - auto-running - have killed the entire formula, and indeed, entire point, of this game even existing for what it is. You've got the same characters, environments, and plenty of sawblades to go around, sure, but now it boils down to a procedurally-generated Bit Trip game with a coat of paint, and that is just sad. Simply put, there is none of the talent and charm that was present for the original, and this game feels soulless as a result. I don't believe Edmund, Tommy, or (especially after the drama) DannyB were involved at all. What a sham, and a shame.… Expand
