At first glance Broforce may look like a basic side-scroller built on a one-note joke, but there's a lot more depth to the game than that, both in terms of gameplay and humor.

Broforce is a love letter to iconic heroes from action movies, but also an enjoyable and frenetic action game.

For anyone who hasn’t had their fill of retro side-scrolling platformers, Broforce effortless and undeniable fun. Load-up, settle in, and invite a few bros.

Broforce is an enjoyable ode to gamers that were raised by action movies and 16-bit consoles. The technical defects of the PS4 version, however, give the PC original the clear advantage.

A charming, uncommonly smart spiritual sibling to Contra, full of awesomely crafted homages to action cinema, but troubled on PS4 by a few bugs I'd like to nuke from Orbit. [May 2016, p.95]

Broforce is everything awesome about action films amplified to a satirical degree that will leave you grinning non-stop.

Broforce is a fun concept that just never coalesces right.

First impression (especially on screenshots) might not show the title its rightful greatness, but trust me its realy amazing.

The gameBroforce is a simple 5-10 hour indie game, with intense action awesome bosses amazing level design and fantastic characters choices! The game is a 2D shooter where you die in one hit, that might sound difficult and it is, but it’s beatable but sometimes it can get very hard. The game is very intense and action heavy, and the levels show, with great enemy’s to battle and amazing ways to kill and destroy your enemy. All the available to play characters are amazing inclusions to this game, they all almost feel different to each other. The music is just PERFECT, and somehow the bosses are even implemented very damn well. The couch multiplayer and online are awesome and they work really good. Sadly one issue with the game is that you can get lost sometimes and die because how crazy the game could get, just an issue I wanna bring up but the game is still a blast! Broforce is a major action game that must not be slept on, it hits in every good way in the levels characters bosses music and charm. (Amazing 4/5) Your Missing Out! Expand

It's really creative and enjoyable, throwing Satan off of a cliff as an 80's action hero with "Bro" squeezed into their name is really fun, and it was one of the only games I've ever played that made me laugh out loud on purpose - not by means of a funny glitch or anything - but wow, is it ever broken. I like the Super Nintendo-ish style, but why is it so laggy? The FPS drops all the time, and it's infuriating for such a seemingly simple and non-graphically demanding game. The controls lock up for a few seconds after you spawn as well, leaving you vulnerable to enemies. I have no clue why this wasn't spotted and sorted out, as it's probably the most maddening thing about the whole experience, and the load times can be atrocious too. if you can see past all of that, you'll have a surprisingly entertaining game on your hands to occupy you for a little while. You should grab it while it's free with PS Plus, but if you can't and the game's been fixed by the time you're reading this, I'd say it's worth your 15 bucks. Expand

I really wish this game could be better; I really, really do.

As many of you may know this was given as "free" with PS+ this month, other than Helldivers (which I already owned) I was really looking forward to a cooperative game I could play with friends online. Broforce does have this capability, do not misunderstand; the problem here is that the online-play is flawed at best.

At first the online worked flawlessly, then when we got about 30% through the game it started spazzing out, reviving each other but it failing to actually revive, thus wasting the limited amount of lives you are given; input lag crippling the experience the whole way. I would like to confirm that this is not an internet problem on our end, we immediately played Smite and SFV to test and both worked completely fine.

Another huge problem that happens both online and off (and this is common, not just me) is that at the beginning of the level the game won't receive your inputs for the first few seconds, however the game keeps going on, obviously this leads to a lot of BS deaths, which wouldn't be horrible if the loading screens weren't unnecessarily long.

Overall the game would be decent for a single-player experience, if a bit short, but as an online experience this game is severely lacking as of right now, if the dev team fixes it's issues the game would be a solid 8/10.

Okay, deep breaths..... Right I'll begin.

Sony yet again have given us another month of absolute trash, fobbing us off with ugly looking pixel games that make the Amiga 500 look like it had more processing power. This pixel art style doesn't represent the golden era, games didn't look like this. It's an ugly art style. So please, young game developers who clearly didn't live in the 80's stop thinking you have the right to poorly imitate a beautiful art style from the days of early Nintendo and Sega.

Broforce is dull. Within 20 minutes I was seriously bored and wanted to turn the game off. Its uninspiring moronic nonsense designed for fake alpha males who actually believe the crappy Chuck Norris memes.
Yes when I was a kid Arnie movies were cool, so was Robocop and Rambo etc, but never did any child of the 80's wish for a rubbish pixel art game 20 years in the future that monotonously recycles the same puns all the way through the game as if that makes it trendy.

The game-play is boring, the sound terrible, the controls stiff, the level design laughable and graphics pitiful.

You basically shoot a few bad guys, rescue a few bro's, forcing you to play as characters you don't want to play with, get to the end of the level and repeat. The whole thing is a chore. I uninstalled after 20 mins and went back to waiting for Dark Souls 3.

Please Sony, give us some decent ps+ games next month and please don't do vote to play again. Its clear the majority of fans are moronic teenage hipsters who wish they were part of my generation but completely misunderstand what it was like in the 80s and 90s. If you want retro buy a NES!!!

In conclusion, utterly awful game. At least it was free because if I'd paid for this experience I'd probably be on a murder charge as it would likely have driven me to find the developer and insert a physical copy up his ass where it belongs causing him to suffer a horrible death from not been able to crap for 3 weeks!
