Syren certainly has a few flaws, but this made-for-VR survival-horror game is a competent stab at the genre, and proves to be terrifying as it is exciting. An engrossing story, and a flair for the dramatic makes Syren a worthy addition to any horror junkie's VR collection. [Tested with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift]
Though brief, Syren proves itself to be a worthwhile taster of what VR can really do for horror games. While never fully capitalizing on that potential, there are some revelatory moments for the genre here, making you painfully aware of your own self as you hide behind crates and freeze on the spot. That alone helps overlook the short length and handful of bugs and blemishes, and makes Hammerhead VR itself a developer well worth watching.
Syren is an interesting survival horror game that lacks the polish to come together as a quality title.

Summary SYREN is an intense survival horror game in which you must use your wits to navigate through a labyrinthine underwater base. With death all around, you must become a master of stealth and solve puzzles, doing everything you can to avoid the strange creatures that lurk in the dark.
