It's not as good as the previous titles, yet still manages to offer a well rounded experience. If a lack of online isn't an issue for you and you don't mind the lacklustre presentation then you'll probably enjoy this but WRC 4 is far superior.

Being a huge WRC Vita fan i was really excited that a new developer Kylotonn had got a chance to really take these games to the next level,Being a huge WRC Vita fan i was really excited that a new developer Kylotonn had got a chance to really take these games to the next level, never did i expect them to take the games back light years, well its happened, this vita version is truly a very embarrassing game for Kylotonn, maybe their worst to date and thats saying something, so bad that for the first time in my life ive felt the need to join a site like this and warn others.

Where do i start, lets start off with the positives.

The cars look good and are a step up from wrc4 cars.
    The menu is good
Theres lots of tinkering to do with your car but to be honest none of it really does anything
You can change the controls scheme to suit which is great

    The Bad.

Landscape graphics are an absolute disgrace, you really have to see them to believe how poor they are, we are talking about some of the worst PSP graphics quality, its a joke.

Handling is very poor, the cars are way to heavy on the road, the steering and handling is terrible at speed, even at low speed its terrible, the front ends of the car have no grab and brakings very poor, they have been talking up their new physics engine but thats all it is, just talk, WRC4 is a dream to drive compared to this, you can be travelling at 30km an hour in this game and manage to launch the car 10 feet in the air off a tiny grass mound, its ridiculous

The road surfaces are so bland you will struggle to tell what you are driving on, but that doesnt really matter as the cars handle the same on every surface, i think theres been a whole lot claimed in this game that isnt true which takes me to my next point,

NO NIGHT STAGES IN VITA VERSION, on the back of my box it claims there is night racing, it even has the picture, theres no night racing, its simply false advertising, dishonest and unethical, on this point alone one could get a refund.

Co driver talk is an embarrassment, it sounds like he is anywhere but in a car and no matter what setting you put his calls on its either way to early or way to late.

The engine sound is the worst ive ever heard in a vita race game, and the backfiring from some cars is so offensively loud you simply cant listen to it, its ridiculous.

THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE SHADOW IN THIS GAME LOL, the trees look like they are cut out and stuck on cardboard pictures that a 5 year old would take home to mum after a day at kindergarten.

There is no commentary introducing rallies, talking about tracks, cars, drivers, absolutely nothing, thus leading to a game with no heart, no suspense, drama, charm, if this game had a heart it would be no bigger than a poppy seed.

If you want a good vita rally game dont buy this one, buy WRC4 which imo is the best vita race game and my personal favourite vita game, its basically just a dressed up WRC3 vita game which is good in its own right.

If your a race die hard and your just happy to get a new vita rally game by all means buy WRC5 but dont get rid of your WRC4 because it absolutely smashes this game.

Kylotonn games should be absolutely ashamed of themselves on more than one front with this game, WRC should take their licence of them its as simple as that.

    Buy at own risk.

I just purchased this game with high hopes that it would one-up WRC 4 on the Vita, and I am sad to say that I am disappointed. The VitaI just purchased this game with high hopes that it would one-up WRC 4 on the Vita, and I am sad to say that I am disappointed. The Vita version appears to be a very watered down port of the console versions. My observations relative to WRC 4 (Vita): I found the environments to be lacking in detail; I could hardly see any particle effects (dust, dirt, water splash); weather effects seem to be broken (I chose the rain option for one stage and I don't believe I saw one drop fall); the co-driver pace notes were delivered very poorly - in WRC 4 it sounds like the guy is sitting next to you reading out the pace notes with a nice normal human flow. In WRC 5 it sounds like prerecorded snippets being thrown out robot-like (and, I've been playing rally games since the PSX and I don't think I've ever heard some of the things the WRC 5 co-driver said - which is fine if the information he provides is useful, but what the hell does "minus" mean?); and finally the physics seem odd to me....again relative to WRC 4, I found the cars in WRC 5 to be "floaty" and at one point slammed into an embankment and the car bounced up and fell down very unrealistically. The in-car camera is limited....you don't see nearly as much going on in the cockpit as you do with WRC 4. Did I at least enjoy playing it for what it was? Not really. The Rally School was a cool idea, but with wonky physics it was not a lot of fun. Sorry Kylotonn (the developer of WRC 5), I read all your announcements and watched your demo videos with anticipation, but what I have on my Vita does not seem to match at all. So in summary, I don't think I would buy this title again...Milestone's WRC 4 still holds the Vita rally throne for me. Expand
