Those looking for challenge or an arcade-like experience will find Shapes of Grey a good time killer, but casual or inexperienced gamers will find themselves stuck forever.
Don't get Gray if you easily see red, but others still might discover some zen in the non-complex chaos.
Shapes of Gray is ultimately disappointing. With so many fantastic ideas at play, both mechanically and aesthetically, it is heartbreaking to see the whole thing get tarnished by mere technical errors.
Shapes of Gray is a decent first effort from the developer Secret Tunnel, but the unreliable combat and lack of aesthetic personality ultimately hold it back. As such, it’s hard to recommend a one-trick game when it doesn’t do that one trick very well.
