Sumire isn’t quite like anything else out there, because that’s the nature of grief—it’s deeply personal stuff, despite being such a universal thing to deal with. It’s heartbreaking, in the way that losing a loved one can only be, but it’s also a bittersweet story of hope: of keeping the memory of loved ones alive in our actions, about living each day to the fullest, and cherishing all the little moments that we’re blessed with. It’s beautiful.

If you enjoy emotional stories with admittedly shallow gameplay, you absolutely should be giving Sumire a try.

Sumire is absolutely stunning and is yet another extraordinary indie in the Switch library. It taps right into your feelings and allows you to take charge and perhaps help Sumire and her flower have their perfect day. Or not. It’s all up to you. But no matter what you choose to do, it tends to feel satisfying. And, if you’re feeling up to it, is worth a second or third run to play games with “friends” or try to make the the lives of people (and objects) better.

Sumire may be a short game, but the character interactions, side quests, and challenges make each playthrough unique. Despite having experienced loss, the game shows us that Sumire could make her day better, one step at a time – that is, if you chose to give her a good day. Even though some parts may be arguably scary for children, important lessons are to be learned and beautiful artwork to be appreciated. With good replayability but no fast-forwarding enabled, you may not immediately feel the urge to start a new game. Still, someday if you feel like picking up a heartwarming tale and giving Sumire the worst day of her life, the game will be there, ready for your poor choices.

Sumire is the type of game that anyone who loves story-telling and visually stunning environments will be drawn in by. It doesn't reinvent any of its inspirations - and in some places, like its puzzles and its replayability, it's noticeably less impressive than some of its peers - but the experience as a whole exceeds these individual qualities. GameTomo delivers on the promise of its premise, and Sumire is an easy recommendation for those who enjoy visual novels or memorable narratives.

Sumire is an adventure game with beautiful light-colored art and an acoustic music soundtrack. You play as a young girl who experiences a slightly special day in a somewhat mysterious setting, but that’s about it. You won’t find any deep settings and themes or an intriguing story here. If you like to enjoy admiring beautiful scenery on the way through a game without thinking too much, Sumire’s world might be one for you.

Sumire is a 3 hour long narrative adventure game where you play as sumire, you have a dream of your dead grandmother wanting to tell you something, a seed crashes through your window, it turns into a magical flower and the flower promises if youll show them a day in the human world, they will help you see your grandmother again.. so you make a list.. a list of your perfect day on your journey to finally see her again.. and this game is beautiful from strt to finish, from the artwork to the music, to the story telling.. I loved every moment of this game.. along your journey youll talk to animals and statues, all with their own wants and needs to make them happy, and you have the option to help them.. in eturn youll get coins and good or bad karma based on your action.. the coins don’t do much but help you just buy random thing an complete challenges within the game.. but it bjut feels nice to help these souls within the games world.. make new friends, let go of old.. find love, its such a wonderful game.. my only gripe with this game is that I did run into a game breaking bug by fast traveling to the final area.. this is a known issue being worked on now.. but it did force me to start all the way from the beginning.. but it was worth it.. it was worth rushing back through to see this story out to its end..
Sumire is a onderful game, it will touch your heart in all kinds of ways and is a must play.

Sumire, with you playing as a young girl who has recently lost her grandmother and is hoping to connect with her spirit, is one such compelling title. In her journey of only one day she’ll interact with a variety of characters and be given choices, most of which will carry a serious consequence in how things play out by day’s end so you’ll need to be mindful in how you choose. With terrific and colorful art, a great mix of the grounded real and the fantastic, and a meaningful story to tell, Sumire is a memorable experience story lovers should be sure to enjoy on Switch.
