I expected The Golf Club 2 to be better than the first in every way given the new career setup and golf societies, but I was surprised the addition of the swing tempo gameplay is what gives this title a lasting structure. This, combined with the course creator, make the game indispensable for any golf fan. You'll be seeing those missed putts in your dreams and savoring every chip-in birdie.
The Golf Club 2 improves on the original in every way, and most importantly it plays a fantastic game of golf. It’s a shame then that there are still some technical hiccups, as they do take some of the sheen away from it, but I don’t doubt that HB Studios will continue to improve on what has clearly been a labour of love, and one which shows that sports game development isn’t solely in the realms of the biggest publishers.
for a golf fan, this game has a lot more on offer than mcilroys pga tour. The huge difference being, you actually feel the impact of a shot. after reading reviews about the presentation, i expected the graphics to be terrible. look, they aren't next gen level, but they are passable. the main thing in a golf game for a golfer is a great swing system and this game delivers. brilliant.
Overall the game does feel really good. The mechanics are solid with the only issue being gauging strength. The career and societies are going to offer up some good possibilities to players along with some real extended play times. 100,000+ courses to play is slightly bonkers. That’s great for variety but it’s also a double-edged sword. While most are well optimized, there are times that during your back swing the game will stutter. I’m sure you can imagine what that does to a shot.
The Golf Club 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, providing an unrivaled golf simulation that still lacks surrounding content to keep it relevant for months to come. The new career mode leaves a lot to be desired, but few sports games can compete with how solid the on-course gameplay is within The Golf Club 2. Societies is also a welcome addition that golf-loving friends will really appreciate. The Golf Club 2 is still a ton of fun to play, but it’s clear that HB Studios needs to revamp some of the side activities heading into The Golf Club 3.
In spite of its minimalist aesthetic sense, The Golf Club 2 is an excellent compromise between a fun game and a realistic simulation. The career mode is very demanding and the golf courses editor is amazing.
The Golf Club 2 it is not a bad game, but it feels like it is developed for playing one single match at a time, rather than a long-term experience. The gameplay is still quite satisfying, whilst the new single player and multiplayer modes didn't go entirely in the right direction.
A decent sequel that improves upon its predecessor in virtually every department, The Golf Club 2 strikes a good drive. But while the improvements to the simulation and course editor are appreciated, there’s still work that needs to be done to the unifying Societies system, which represents a clever idea that’s far too convoluted for its own good right now. A third stroke should see this series realise its very real potential – but in fairness, this entry is in regulation and well worth buying if you’re a fan of the sport.
This just might be the best sports simulator I have played, any category. Endless replayability through user created content and options for your look, clothes and golf bag. A good though somewhat limited solo career mode as well as online societies are a blast. The game urges you to play different courses in different manners to earn more ingame money through various course challenges. Then to top it off there is another game in the game. A course creator that allows you to create your own golf course, with little or endless detail.
I paid $20 new, it was at least a full year old. The price is key. At $20 it is a fun golf game. The only problem is that the "greens" are not realistic. They are way too difficult and not in any way a real green would play in real life. Thus, it honestly takes away from the overall game. Graphics are great!
I was a player of the Golf Club originally and enjoyed it for a while until It simply became stale with it's lack of variety in terms of game features and no proper online multiplayer over p2p. I sat a few days back and thought I'll purchase number 2 because surely after all this time they have fixed the problems from the first game but how wrong I was.
Positives - Lots of courses , Career Mode included in retail release , more customisation.
Negatives - Ok so we'll start with the old problems , low FPS .... not sure what it's running at but like the first game it feels horribly optimised and runs at a very poor framerate on ps4 that's obvious to the eye. Then we have the good old stiff , laggy backswing.... unbelievably this Is exactly the same as the first game , there is nothing different the backswing still feels stiff and laggy which results in numerous shots spewing left or right due to the game simply not being accurate in the stick department. Now I am not showing how they could simply overlook this as It has been mentioned numerous times In the past but it looks like this game was simply copy and pasted in massive chunks from the first game and little tiny things added on to it. This is not a new game from scratch in any way at all and It feels like being robbed in many ways so I'll find it hard to trust HB Studios after this. To end things there is the problem of the worst shadows in a game , no idea why the shadows are as bad as they are but they are truly horrible. Try putting with shadows on the green it's truly a shambles. I honestly cant recommend this game In any way and I am a golf lover and have played every golf game released. Stay away from this until the developers listen to people. Thanks
The worst invested 12€ of my life. Strokes outside the tee are utterly unpredictable. Putting is outrageous. I've been playing golf videogames since the 1980's because they are chill and relaxing and this is the most infuriating one i've ever tried. But there's more...
The HUD of the game doesn't properly fit in my TV screen and can't be modified in the configuration options (brace yourself OCD). Loading screens are too long (and annoying). Subpar graphics and customization. You can't even take a look at locked equipment items before unlocking them with in-game currency. Game modes are sparse and uninspired. There's no progression system at all.
I'm mad at myself for thowing my money away in The Golf Club 2. Never again, Maximum Games. Never again.
Good feature for long game, good graphics, but putting is ATROCIOUS. Pitch shots aren't much better. Unimaginative, way off, dreadful. Long game too easy, short game too hard. Worse game engine than tiger woods 2008 - that’s a LONG time ago - dreadful dreadful effort.
