Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster is easily the most unique of the old-school RE games and one that should be experienced if you're a fan of the series.

Resident Evil 0 is a worthy entry in the Resident Evil franchise even though it lacks the scares and originality. It's often overshadowed by the first game, but not giving it a spin would be a grave mistake.

Resident Evil Zero Remaster is exactly what the name implies. I had a blast returning to this entry, which is easily my least played in the series. It does enough different to help it stand on its own, even if some of those mechanics are archaic by today’s standards.
  4. Even a remastered version of a more or less forgettable prequel from the franchise’s heyday is infinitely preferable to what Capcom gave us in Resident Evil 6. It’s got its fair share of issues and isn’t the nostalgic walk down memory lane that was Resident Evil HD Remaster, but at least it’s a bit more of what this Resident Evil fan really wants.

Even though it's similar in almost every aspect, the original Resident Evil HD Remaster outshines this title. Lesser attention to detail and laziness when building the new game mode is noticeable since first minutes. However, it delivers in every technical aspect as its predecessor.

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster is still a fantastic update to an older game, but this one just isn't the classic that the original was. There's still some great survival horror gameplay, but the overall experience is not quite as thrilling or memorable. Still, for those starving for true survival horror this will certainly fit the bill.

Resident Evil 0 was the weakest game in the series when it was originally released in 2002 and still is in 2016. [03/2016, p.43]

It's a single player game featuring cooperative mechanics. You're given the task to control two characters in tandem. This sounds like fun, but can be very frustrating. Basically, this series prequel would work better if it was either a solo OR a two player game. Managing inventory is a pain since Rebecca and Billy can only carry six items at a time. As a result, you're constantly having to decide which thing is best to carry. Additionally, each character have their own unique abilities that really should belong to them both. For instance, only Billy can move heavy objects and only Rebecca can mix herbs. It can lead to moments of frustration if you decide to split them apart. I would highly advise to always have them stick together. Despite its flaws, the game is extremely playable. The HD remaster is gorgeous, even more so than the HD version of the remake. I would rate this with a 7.6 out of 10. Expand
