Overall, a ticket to Plant Coaster: Console Edition is a great buy if you’re at all into theme park management. Frontier did a superb job bringing their excellent 2016 PC game to next-gen with console-friendly UI, controls, and everything you could need to get a big jump on your theme park building and management gameplay.

If you’re a roller coaster aficionado, theme park sims don’t come much better than this. An incredible amount of work has gone into making Planet Coaster feel at home on console, and Frontier has done a commendable job of doing so without making sacrifices. It looks fantastic, performs admirably, and designing the park of your dreams has never been more enjoyable.

With a practiced expertise, Frontier has translated their fantastic coaster creator to the next-gen consoles without compromising the core qualities of what makes this game great. The radial menu and optional keyboard/mouse controls delivers theme park magic unlike any other, and once again claims its crown -- the king of coasters among mere tycoons.

The console version of Planet Coaster contains all the charm of the PC version.

Planet Coaster: Console Edition is quietly one of the best launch titles for the Xbox Series X|S, and made all the better by being available through Game Pass. For a park sim, it is incredibly easy to pick up and play as everything is explained and designed as this version was built up for consoles, as opposed to a simple port. The effort gone into that is noticeable in every single menu and button press; nothing is restricted by the controller.

While it’s a pleasure to sit on the sofa and meander through one’s epic theme park creation on the big screen, enjoying the sights and sounds of the rides, the crowds, the vendors and the scenery, actually building that park is still easier and vastly more efficient up close and personal on the PC with a mouse and keyboard. Frontier did a great job of bringing Planet Coaster to consoles and is easy to recommend. Just be prepared for a learning curve and a bit of frustration as you get the hang of building your dream park with the controller.

Planet Coaster: Console Edition is definitely the best theme park management game around, with a great porting from the PC version and a very solid gameplay. We would have liked a meatier Career mode, but its Sandbox mode can be very satisfying and it'll be able to entertain even newcomers to the genre.

I made a very imperfect park in challenge mode that I can’t let go. I keep updating the park with new rides while I erase old ones to offer new exiting things to my guests. I keep an eye on my staff and makes sure they’re happy and I fire the ones that are lazy. I fantasize what I’m about to build next for my park.. I’m thinking about a dark ride. I even dream about my park. I sometimes erase whole areas of the park to update it. I don’t think I’ll stop improving until I literally don’t have anything more to update. I love it when the economy crashes because then I got stuff to do.

Never thought any game would top Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, but here I am. Addicted to this game that lets me build absolutely everything I want and my imagination runs wild in this one

    It works well on Xbox

This game is definitely playable, even with just a controller. And i LOVE the fact they seem to give you just as much control as if you were playing on a PC. For example: When building a coaster, you can turn the angle snaps off, giving you exact control of all the angles and lengths, so you can create unique hills, turns, and elements, instead of everything just being cookie cutter elements.

The graphics look very fine on series X. Game performs very well, whether you're riding a coaster, zooming all around the park, or looking at different guests and getting their thoughts. The only negatives so far are some slight annoyances with the interface and when building stuff. Sometimes you will get obstructed for no apparent reason. The other day in sandbox mode I was trying to build a launch coaster and trying to do the launch track anywhere on the flat barren terrain I just kept getting obstructed over and over. The menus are laid out reasonably well but sometimes it is hard to figure out just which menu an item you want to build is buried underneath. And when placing anything, if you move the silhouette of the item (faded visual of a new item when placing it) into a non-buildable area, you get this contruction voice saying (No no no!, or Stop!) every single time. Hearing this constantly gets annoying.

So far I've done the tutorial (kinda long but I guess needed), the first chapter of career mode, and built a couple coasters in sandbox mode. Can't wait to get my sandbox park started. Graphics, gameplay, and fun factor all score high marks for me. Despite some annoyances Planet Coaster: Console is a fine port and totally recommend it. As I currently type this it is available on gamepass. Give it a spin!

Building a theme park is great fun but once you park gets to a certain size it will constantly crash making it unplayable. Tracking your staffBuilding a theme park is great fun but once you park gets to a certain size it will constantly crash making it unplayable. Tracking your staff is impossible and way too involved and slow to keep them happy so they quit constantly, who wants to manage staff in sandbox mode, answer is no one. Haven't played the challenge mode as all I wanted to do was build the biggest rollercoasters but as said you cant make use of all the space Expand
