With its fantastic soundtrack, gorgeous visuals and sky high production values, Yo-Kai Watch belies its years to deliver one of the better looking game on the Nintendo 3DS. It’s unlikely to match Pokémon’s success in the West, but judged upon its own merits, this is one of the better 3DS games released in the last few years and a genuine match for the ever-popular Pokémon franchise.
Yo-kai Watch is a story-driven JRPG with one of the funniest, detailed and rich universes we've ever played, with a tons of quests and secrets waiting to be discovered. Be sure to wear your nostalgic shorts, before jumping in the life of a kid who's about to live the most exciting adventure of his life.
THIS GAME IS AWESOME. Good graphics for the 3DS, very good music, good game-play and a good story. If you have a 3DS and want something new and very good try this game it is amazing. They say that this game is a Pokemon rip-off but this game is not that. I can confirm that this game can be sometimes better than Pokemon, but not always.

Yo-kai Watch is a great adventure, fun, addictive and very interesting. We don't know if it's going to be the next Pokémon, but the foundations are solid enough to reach similar levels of popularity.
Yo-Kai watch might seem like another Pokemon clone, but it's anything but. Don't be fooled by its kid-friendly nature; it's charming, endearing, and one of the best 3DS games of the year.
With a combat system that really shines during the slower-paced, strategic boss battles, Level-5 has created a game that's successful in its own right, and not just as an advertisement for a broader product line.
Ultimately the appeal of Yo-Kai Watch will depend heavily on you as a gamer. If you’re interested in a light JRPG with a twist on standard turn-based mechanics, you will find Yo-Kai Watch to be a delight. If you’re looking for something deeper, you might want to stick with Pokémon.
Yo-Kai Watch's main story can easily be completed in under twenty hours, though there's quite the meaty postgame for those who are enamored with the gameplay.
i just, hate people who say its a bad game or a "Pokemon ripoff" it is such an unique thing i have even seen people who haven even played the game and write its a Pokemon ripoff I even saw a review that said that he could suicide but just give it a chance it has a good battle system (even though you can't do that much) yes, yes, I know the befriend sistem is kinda weird but this game is much better than it looks just give it a chance and you'll see
I lost the cartridge on my sofa and never found it again. I never got past McKraken's first phase because of that. Befriending yokai is also really hard, and grinding is extremely boring. 7/10, this game really needed some of the changes ykw2 brought, like seeing a yokai's favourite food or special coins.
I really have enjoyed this game and I do like it. Of course I heard first, that this is just a Pokemon copy, but you have to play not even an hour, and you will realise that it just is not. The battle system is completely different and the way to get new Yo-Kai too. The story of the game really could be better, and an online mode for battles or Yo-Kai trades would make the game a bit longer, because after you beat the final boss you do not have much to do anymore. Another reason why I gave this game a 7 and not an 8 for example, is the factor, that the game is just to easy to beat. I really never have been challenged, not even in boss battles, which can be a bit annoying when you beat the game with absolutely no trouble, but the positive things are the mostly good designs of the Yo-Kai, the world and the soundtrack is fantastic
It's not a bad game, but its nothing to write home about. The game play mostly consists of looking for bad yo-kai with casper the ghost, than when you find them you pretty much use sesame street characters rip-offs to fight other sesame street characters. The battles mostly consists of tapping the screen like you have parkinson's, while some stratedge is involved it gets old real fast. this game barely has a story, its mostly about stopping yo-kai from messing around. other than the graphics and some mechanics this game surely is nothing special. (it's nothing like pokemon, don't get that idea, aside from the battling which is still very different in the two games)
I really enjoyed the game but the RNG ruins it, Just spent an hour trying to befriend a yo kai with no luck at all.
Pros
Music is nice
Neat battle system
Cons
Befriending rate is awful
Can only run for a limited time before slowing down
SummaryThe YO-KAI WATCH game is about hundreds of sometimes cute, sometimes spooky, and usually mischievous Yo-kai that inhabit our world. Yo-kai are not ghosts, monsters or creatures. Yo-kai are, quite simply, Yo-kai. They cannot be seen by the human eye, but they are everywhere. Whether born from the soul of a deceased human, or an everyday o...
