Stirring, often tragic yet hopeful, In Search of Peace benefits from its eloquent narrator Michael Douglas, and from the voices of Edward Asner, Anne Bancroft, Richard Dreyfuss, Miriam Margolyes and Michael York.
The film at times feels less than objective, in part due to Douglas' often breathless narration.
History buffs will find this film lacking, and it isn't really deep enough to educate the rest of us as thoroughly as it should.
It's a timely, noble undertaking ill-served by a dry, history-textbook style that is at once too much and not enough.
