The gameplay is extremely varied thanks to the objectives in each battle, the solutions to the battles are always numerous and resemble more of a tactical puzzle. Even if you dislike the anime stylization of the story, the characters, or the general sauce around them, both games are excellent tactical strategies in the style of Battle Isle, and indeed the original Wars series from which Advance Wars sprang. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a delightful reimagining of two classic GBA strategy titles. The gameplay here remains as endlessly addictive, finely balanced, and challenging as ever, and the addition of a handful of modern conveniences and the ability to play against friends online makes for a slick overall package. With a crisp, clean new art style that adds lots of new animations and cutscenes, a remastered soundtrack, and voice-acting in the mix, this is a polished return to Advance Wars action that's got us fully addicted to the series all over again. This is the sort of game you'll reserve a permanent space for on your console, a timeless experience you'll keep tucked away on your Switch for the foreseeable future.

A strategy turn based game. If you like the genre is perfect. each history have a duration of 20h, and complete 100% of the game can give you a 60-80h of game. You can play with 4 friends in the same tv or in online mode. Have a maps editor to create your own maps. If you liked advance wars saga, is the definitive edition for enjoy this funny game.

This is a very faithful remake of the GBA classics that brings all the fun back and keeps their essence intact.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp offers two excellent strategy titles which will keep players busy for a ton of hours. Whether you’re an old fan happy to be back in command or someone enlisting for the first time, there’s a lot to recommend here. A bit more work updating things, particularly the balance of the latter half of the first game and the multiplayer experience, would have been welcome but that shouldn’t stop those wanting an excellent strategy experience from picking this one up.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp most importantly gives two Game Boy Advance games a fresh coat of paint to make them look a bit nicer on the Switch. We fully understand that, because the games that lie at the core have aged tremendously.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp doesn’t drastically change the core gameplay from the original, but it didn’t need to. Back in 2001, Advance Wars played beautifully. A simple concept paired with deep systems allowed the series to withstand the test of time -- something that’s even clearer with a modern Switch version. Playing Re-Boot Camp feels like revisiting an old friend and finding out their best qualities remained intact over the years. For those visiting for the first time on Switch, prepare for a new lifelong friendship.
Re-Boot Camp rescues Advance Wars' brilliant gameplay formula from a 15-year hiatus, but does so without ever displaying any amount of ambition. Its lackluster online multiplayer offering is emblematic of a re-release that shines on purely through the ingenuity of the original's gameplay loop.
If you like turn-based strategy games the Advance Wars games always deliver. This ‘Re-Boot’ is no exception and is just as entertaining and fun as the original two games released twenty years ago.
Lots of fun and tons of content for many hours to go. Highly recommend this!

PROS:
- Graphics are cute
- Finally a decent strategy game on Switch
- There are many units and strategies you can go for
CONS:
- "BAIT Wars 1+2: RE-BAIT Camp" would suit better. You're not encourage to advance, there are many baits waiting for you.
- To get "S" rank scores, some maps will require ONE strategy. Meaning you have to do the exact area movements, thus removing the flexibility to try different strategies (only one will work). This is like playing chess against Kasparov and not being allowed to trade/lose a few pieces on the way.
- Poorly balanced. NPC takes advantage of fog of war and forests. You don't know how many units they have and where they're located, but NPC knows exactly where to scout and hit you, it's like playing against someone using map-hack.
- You CAN'T pause on NPC's turn. If you accidentally skip your turn, you have to wait for the NPC to move all units, attack with all units, use their secret special (power), and only then you're allowed to pause and restart.

Not impressed with this game. Much like fire emblem engage, another turn based strategy game, advance wars reboot doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a turn based war strategy game or a childish comedy'? I don't like the direction this mashup went in and it's hard to take this game as serious as the game wants me to when they are blending jokes, the art style, and the story, and they are all on separate pages, in different books. This game is confused on what it wants to be, and as a result, I'm confused on what it is or who it's supposed to cater to. I also don't like the tutorial giving me a bunch of information all at once, then putting me in the game and expecting me to remember everything that was said. Some of the troops look alike and I found myself almost getting wiped out because I was putting them in the wrong spots because I confused one for another. I also don't like how when I'm taking over a city I have to during each turn tell my units to take over that city. Seems like if I put a unit on a city, that should be a given, or at least tell them once and they figure it out every round, but this game wants me to micromanage them but the art style and jokes don't lend itself to that serious ****. Sorry, advance wars this is a no

It's a decent game it just didn't age well enough to live up to current standards of what makes a fun game in 2023 imo.
It started out decent but it got old/repetitive very quickly, especially after having to sit through some really slow and long battles of attrition. Story barely even exists, you can't do anything with the currency except get collectibles which makes the whole campaign feel unrewarding. The art style isn't terrible but it lacks personality and it's way too childish.
Would've been fun if there was some sort of upgrades you could buy with the currency and maybe customize your units to your playstyle.
Sure there's character with different abilities but that's just that, a one turn ability.
