Disgaea 4 Complete + is not only the definitive version of a game that was already excellent, but an adventure full of content that lasts hundreds of hours and offers everything the title needs to become an essential strategy game. If you like Japanese humor and its slow rhythm, you will find in this game an almost infinite source of fun.
There’s no real wrong way to play Disgaea and there’s endless fun to be had in Hell with its lovable cast of characters. Disgaea 4 Complete+ is yet another wonderful addition from the franchise brought to modern consoles, and fans of the series or tactics titles should not miss out on it.
Disgaea 4 Complete+ on the Nintendo Switch is the ultimate way to experience Disgaea 4. Able to go portable and grind anytime, anywhere, but on the big and pretty Switch screen, really is a treat for any Disgaea fan out there. And it could be for you if you are not one of those people of good taste and style.
If I didn’t have a pub’s worth of RPGs on the Switch already to deal with, I could see myself putting thousands of hours into Disgaea 4 Complete+. The story is a blast, and the combat is addictive enough while also being a nice change from the huge maps of Three Houses. Right now, D4 is the best bet if you’re looking for some humor to go along with your strategy, dood.
Showing clear evolution over the previous games, as well as including some of the best features from the fifth entry, this remake is very good for fans that might have missed this the first time, those who want to come back with everything included, or for even first time players. Even those not looking for the massive post-game grind, the main story is funny enough to earn a recommendation for JRPG fans on that merit alone. It is a great overall package.
It’s hard to recommend a game such as Disgaea 4 Complete+, as it’s the sort of game that you either love or hate – there really is no in-between. On one hand, you have a mountain of engaging content, oodles of complex gameplay systems to learn, and a refreshingly irreverent tone to keep it all interesting for dozens of hours. On the other hand, these things are presented to you in an overwhelming and difficult to digest manner that will only appeal to a small subset of players. All that being said, we’d give Disgaea 4 Complete+ a high recommendation to veteran fans of the genre who are looking for something specifically geared to them. For newcomers, we’d still recommend it, but we’d also encourage you to do your research and make sure you’re prepared for what will likely feel like a demanding experience at first.
Having only played through Disgaea 5 complete, it is refreshing to know the backstory to some of the characters featured in the DLC's for 5.
Overall I like the story better here, and some of the different gameplay mechanics. I am a Disgaea nerd and huge fan now, so if you're a fan of any others in the series I would recommend picking this up! Tons of QOL improvements over the original Disgaea 4!
9/10
Core Turn Based RPG experience, you could drown in all mechanics it has. Other than that: great characters, especially lord Valvatorez.
Very nice story, I also like how it is "flavored" with politics (like always there are senators but this time your goal is to overthrow government (or how game call it: Corrupternment), you appoint ministers and even have a nice fancy photo of your cabinet).
Also big big big plus for graphics. Fantastic art and in this version, instead of static pictures (or jumping "cards" like in Disgaea 5 or 6) we have some basic animations during dialogues which looks just great!
IMHO: only downside is that authors tried to focus on "geo-cubes" mechanic too much, and a lot of stages "screams" to use it.
SummaryWhen the Corrupternment threatens to disrupt the way of life in Hades, Valvatorez finds himself at the helm of a fiery revolution. Dive into a tale of revolution and redemption, woven throughout a dark and hilarious realm of vampires, werewolves, and other devilish denizens. Engage in immersive and in-depth tactics-based gameplay brimmin...
