I'm hardly a hardcore strategy nerd, so maybe it's the accessibility and surface-level depth I can get down with. I can't wait to dig deeper to see what else I'll enjoy about this topnotch turn-based masterpiece.
It is perfect. I cannot remember the last time I had this fun with a PC game. Rebirth of Rainbow Six feelings (before Ubisoft kill the licence), chess game with rocket launchers. Love it !
(Dark mode only)
Very addicting game. If you want a strategy game which emphasizes the word "strategy" then pick this. If you lack the knowledge and capacity to realize this game is like a game of chess, and trying to determine your opponents movement patterns to outsmart them like Shinigurai who gave this game a 1 (since you cant skip the tutorial or he cant outsmart the AI he gives it a 1, pro tip there Shini, its a tutorial you're not usually supposed to skip those things, its there to teach you). I played the demo for 20 minutes and beat a few skirmishes, enjoyed the ambient music and decided hey I get a free copy with this game once I buy it too? Sweet. Gift for a friend. This game is meant to exercise the brain. Its like that Sudoku but with guns, and instead of numbers you have infantry. It is very addicting and I have a hard time putting it down. Pick this up.
At first Frozen Synapse looks like a very basic turn-based strategy game, but when you look closer you'll find that it has a ton of strategic options and possibilities. Running simulations and thinking things through can keep you busy for endless amounts of time.
The subtle tension that builds as strategic plans are hashed out and executed simultaneously on the battlefield is priceless, resulting in a fresh, chaotic experience you'll want to dive into over and over again.
If you win, it's because you planned your moves right and not because you've been lucky. And if you lose, then just because of your bad planning. This makes Frozen Synapse different and so motivating.
Frozen Synapse will have you grooving to its electronic soundtrack, blowing holes in its destructible environment, and tactically taking down room after room of baddies in this thrilling masterpiece. Your mind will reel with the endless combat possibilities and brilliance of the planning system that allows you to see your next move in a number of dimensions before deciding on exactly how you want to attack the enemy. You'll fall in love with the lengthy and excellent singleplayer campaign, but you're only just getting started when digging into the ground-breaking multiplayer. This game is an absolute steal, and must not be missed by anyone claiming to be a gamer.
The only strategy game of it's kind. A turn-based game that extends the limits of all other strategy games out there! Its simplistic look and clever design mixed with all the possibilities of intuition, scripting, and logic make it a one-of-a-kind success for any strategy game fan!
That doesn't come without some flaws however. While original, that originality does wear by the time the campaign is over. Personally if I didn't have friends to play with, the multiplayer would not have kept my interest. Some of the behind-the-scenes game logic seems to be a little inefficient as well, with long loading times and turn switches between you and the AI.
Pretty good strategy game, too bad the community is too small and lacks basic improvements. A recent update made it possible to enable timed turns, but the other person has to agree on it, what we wanted was to search for a game with a person that agrees with timed turns (i.e. 5 mins), not to find us a game and then ask the other person if they want timed turns...
It's pretty good to play with friends, if you're playing alone it gets boring rather quickly (you might squeeze 10-15 hours of gameplay).
Great idea, I really like both the design and the gameplay. The difficulty level is very high, but that is okay for me. However, Frozen Synapse has two major flaws: It becomes repetitive after a rather short time. And the loading times in between turns are really bad: waiting for 25 seconds for the game to move on to the next turn despite me not having given any orders? I don't have the patience for this, sorry.
I've played it, passed few maps, did what seemed to be correct and failed. Failing itself isn't that frustrating (it's part of every game) but the loading times between each part of the decision making process... I don't have time for such a thing! Idea seems good and the art direction is recognizable but entry barrier is too high. Sorry.
SummaryFrozen Synapse is a thrilling PC strategy game that brings the simultaneous turn-based strategy genre bang up-to-date and lets you give detailed, accurate orders to your squad. Plan your moves, test them out, then hit the "Execute" button: both you and your enemy's turns are executed simultaneously.
