Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga has not lost any of its charm over the past decade and a half, plus looks better than ever now on Nintendo 3DS thanks to its new lick of paint. Humorous, addictive, inventive - everything that made the Game Boy Advance original so addictive returns, with some handy touch screen shortcuts added into the mix, and a pleasant side game in the form of the Bowser's Minions RTS quest. With this, Paper Jam Bros. and Bowser's Inside Story, the Mario & Luigi series shows it is still going from strength to strength thanks to the genius team at AlphaDream.
Nintendo knows how to make good remakes and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Misions is another example of this. With this remake of the original game, Nintendo has made it a pleasure to return to the Kingdom, not only with Mario and Luigi, also with Bowser's henchmen in a mode that will hook you and leave you wanting more.

The absolute BEST JRPG of 2017!! Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is a perfect remake of the Game Boy Advance title that has completely redone visuals, a ton of quality of life features, new content in the form of Minion Quest and new secrets to be found. This game also allowed every Mario & Luigi game to be played on the Nintendo 3DS which makes being able to play all of the games much easier unlike other RPG series, like Persona, which require you to own multiple consoles to play all the games. Pretty much, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is better than Persona 5

The original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was a fantastic adventure, and this remake has not harmed it. You’ll find the same fun and challenging gameplay accompanied by the same witty dialogue that first appeared on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, but now everything looks and sounds much better. The new content, Bowser’s Minions, is not good enough to warrant a purchase by itself; however, since it’s completely optional, it’s also not a reason to stay away.
Remake of the older Marios RPG – still funny, full of possibilities and opponents. To this is added a separate war miniature game, which, however, next to Mario acts rather static. [Issue#279]
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Bowser's Minions is a nice little game for Nintendo 3DS. Bowser's Minions is a great inclusion. Although in the end-game it's gets a little boring and repetitive. Nintendo surely knows how to create happy and safe places in their games.
Ultimately, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions opens up a bit of a paradox. On one hand, Nintendo fans that have yet to play the game are bound to be younger and perhaps without the means to purchase as many new games. Therefore, although the 3DS version of the title is perhaps the best way to play the GBA classic, at $30 above Virtual Console price it may be worth considering the Wii U port. Those that don’t mind sinking their money into a remake should not be put off, however. Although Bowser’s Minions falls short of adding value to the package, Superstar Saga is still an excellent Mario RPG and one that holds up very well in today’s 3DS catalog.
Please play Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions if you never had the chance to play the original. Despite some questionable adjustments, having the opportunity to re-experience this game was an absolute pleasure and has only reminded me of why I love it so much. The characters and writing are as charming as ever, and the memories I had exploring the quirky BeanBean Kingdom are ones I’ll never forget. I only wish I could say the same for the Bowser’s Minions side of the package.

Didn't play much of the Superstar Saga back in the GBA, so this was definitely a great opportunity to experience it for the first time. The game is good, but it has its up and downs. Sometimes i love the pacing and others it feels like the game is too boring. Hard to describe it. The combat system is fun and the boss battles are the BEST part of the game. The story and characters are good, but not Mario RPG good. Overall if you like RPG and Mario, you will have fun with this one.

Inizialmente ero molto colpito da questo gioco. Superstar saga introduce un nuovo regno adiacente a quello dei funghi, nuovi bizzarri **** e un sistema di battaglia molto originale e particolare, ma purtroppo nella seconda parte della storia si cade in sezioni filler su sezioni filler, e questo lo ha reso un gioco meno interessante e più noioso da finire. Un buon gioco, ma si perde in inutili prolungamenti nella seconda parte che lo rendono meno speciale. .

I really liked the battle system. Game feels really slow while going from A to B sometimes. Final battle is a surprising difficulty spike, but obviously manageable. I didn't like some areas, like the Chuckola barrel room. Most of the minigames are bad, the story is awful. Music is good but is overall low quality audio due to being made for a handheld (I play with earbuds and the compression is really obvious).
