One Dog Story started out as an ambitious project, with many ideas and references that unfortunately seems to have fallen short when it comes to embodying its proposal. I was never fully engaged in the experience, and while I do commend Big Ways for pressing on and finishing the game, perhaps not every dog should have its day.
Full of ideas and referents, but dull and uninspired, One Dog Story doesn't fullfil its ambitions. The repetitive music and graphics, and the focus on storytelling over gameplay make it somehow boring, although it has some good ideas.
t's a shame about the game’s issues later in the campaign, because there’s a lot to like in One Dog Story. The art design is great, the story is interesting, and the combat is satisfying; but poor design and technical issues hold the game back from its full potential.
