Final Fantasy Type-0 HD - Story Trailer
Positive: 3 out of 9
Mixed: 6 out of 9
Negative: 0 out of 9
Sep 1, 2015A solid porting effort, though one that shows Square Enix still has a little ways to go.
Aug 24, 2015The graphics may be from 2011, but the story and the combat system are great. It has everything you can expect from a Final Fantasy title.
Aug 27, 2015Type-0 HD can feel like the tortuous result of hasty assembly, but if allowed the time and energy to piece itself together, it stands as clear and original as others bearing its exalted title.
Sep 22, 2015It's got some interesting concepts, but the execution is off. The overall design and nature of the PSP game feels cramped when ported to consoles and PC, and was generally distracting when in any part of the game that wasn't some version of combat.
Sep 1, 2015Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the biggest and most ambitious work from Hajime Tabata (the man behind the anticipated Final Fantasy XV), is a game that constantly struggles between genius and mediocrity, and the PC porting does not help, on way or the other. Few technical improvements, and very few new features.
Sep 2, 2015The trouble is though, the gameplay is not the major part of the game. It’s the story, and the many long non-interactive cutscenes that often feel out-of-place next to the PSP-quality graphics.
Sep 14, 2015A convoluted story and ugly visuals, each of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD's flaws are only made worse by bringing them to bigger screens.
Positive: 9 out of 17
Mixed: 5 out of 17
Negative: 3 out of 17
Jan 14, 2023worth it and glad to play this game again. so much memories and nostalgia within this spin off game in the series.
Nov 1, 2015This game is what an makes a great final fantasy game great battle system and awesome looking cutscenes and epic boss fights like most of theThis game is what an makes a great final fantasy game great battle system and awesome looking cutscenes and epic boss fights like most of the final fantasy games did have but what they lacked was an almost perfect hack and slash battle system that i'm very font of since Kingdom hearts so i enjoyed it more then other final fantasy games and sorry but this story isn't decent its great if you follow and read a little into in the library
there is alot of lore surrounding this game and i think this game is maybe a prequel if not an sequel to final fantasy 13 because let's see the facts: l cie, promise, crystal the game is refrencing if not in the same world as Final fantasy 13 and i love that because i loved final fantasy 13 i ddin't care that it was linear i just had fun knowing all the characters and beating the **** out of monsters but back to the point all the bad reviews are nonsense and for what the price is its perfect for that money even the best deal and by the way if people say that the HD is kind of a lie PLAY IT FOR THE PSP FIRST AND COMPARE THE **** TWO i swear the diffrences are big between teh PSP and the PS4,Xone,PC HD port and it really helps final fantasy back on the tracks they were on and even better i think this game inspired the battle system of the upcoming final fantasy 15 and i love that idea alone. but seriously if you ever see the game on store shelfs don't even think grab it go to the counter pay for it go home
install and enjoy alot of replayabillity because you want to keep playing and see how conversations with other characters goes and there is always something new to be discovered

Graphics could be better, since some very important textures are not remade in HD (like chocobos), and the artistic direction is under average if compared to other FF games, but most of the time the game looks good enough. Music is awesome and very on point, gets you kind of emotional sometimes. Gameplay is the best aspect of the game no doubt. You play with a group of 3 characters you choose among 14 available, and they all play completely different, have various possible builds, and overall are difficult enough to master to be rewarding. The story, meaning the context/background, is a classic for a final fantasy game BUT at the same time, FF games are known for having deep characters with great personalities, personal goals, etc. This is not the case in Type-0 and it's probably the biggest flaw of the game. 14 characters are too many for a game to give them enough time to develop through the story, and so this makes for a group of 14 flat personalities. Still I'm confident you will like the group as a whole.
Finally, the ending is awesome and makes up for the little flaws you will find throughout the adventure.… Expand

Expand

I intend to get all the FF games I haven't played regardless of reviews.
The opening cutscene is amazing, so gripping, emotional and dark. Yet after that the story is ok but feels like a let down, it isn't told well and feels wooden the way it's mostly told with just a couple of characters talking about something and seems rather bland and uninspiring.
I did like the story and the dark tone of it and it seemed much more intriguing after the 6th chapter.
Everything about this game feels like it's half as good as it could be.
In between missions you can do boring quests which are mostly just to kill monsters. And you can only do one quest at a time. I try and do all the quests I can and talk to everyone with exclamation marks but most of it feels pointless and can be skipped.
I found the last chapter the most interesting and enjoyable to play. It's a shame that most of the game was no where near as good and didn't get good until it's nearly over.
The action combat is the best thing about the game and I enjoyed playing all the different play styles of the 14 characters. I levelled them all to lvl 38 and enjoyed levelling them all.
Though you should always have a ranged character in your party.
The port seems fine and I had no problem with frame rates or anything else. Though camera is a bit annoying. I played using my XBox controller as I don't recommend playing with the terrible keyboard controls. Don't get the game if you don't have a controller.
The game is ok. I don't love it or hate it. But it felt tedious at times and the middle bit of the game felt boring. I dislike that you can only get the alternate ending if you play through a second time and I did try a new game on agito, but it's almost just the same with the begining intro cutscene and even though I've completed the game it asked if I wanted to play the tutorial. I don't need that, I know how to play already. I know there is supposed to be other missions you can do and trials, but still feels not worth it to play the game more than once, besides I can see the other ending on you tube.
I like the game and would rather have played it than not at all so. I can't rate it higher than 6/10 as I felt it needed much better quests.… Expand
