This is a remarkable premier for the Canadian team IronOak Games. This varied adventure constantly feels like you’re playing a board game with enhanced roleplaying, not only because of the wood carved design of the characters.

To simply put it, For the King offers one of the most enjoyable experiences in playing mixtures of roguelike RPG and turn-based strategy. This formula works great for those who like to play alone, and it much more better when playing co-op with other players/friends.

I’m highly impressed with Ironoak Games’ debut. If you’re ready for a long and painful (the difficulty level is so high!) but immensely satisfying wander across colorful fantasy realms, do not delay and buy this wonderful roguelike. [07/2018, p.48]

For the King isn’t hesitant to punish players for dumb moves or unlucky rolls.

If you aren’t a fan of rogue-likes or your not a fan of turn-based combat I still urge you to give For the King a shot. I avidly loath just about every turn-based game I’ve ever played (yes, even Civ games – go ahead and hate), and found For The King a refreshing gaming experience that tickled the nostalgia of playing Dungeons and Dragons back in the day.

A great RPG with many hours of content to enjoy and a high difficulty level, but technically a little simple.

For The King refuses to hold your hand, making it a real challenge that feels rewarding. Despite its slow combat, there’s a ton of enjoyable content to make it worth your while.

It looks great, and the developers are still adding new content and features. The game also has several game modes, from campaigns to extended dungeon dives and lets you unlock new game content (loot, encounters, classes and cosmetics) as you play through by finding Lore books. It's unique art style, player freedom and RPG elements will bring you back again and again. Even after completing it's main campaign, there's great level of re-playability with unique classes and player expression. If that's not enough, there are other shorter but well thought out campaigns to play too. The game does have many bugs and punishes the casual gamer but is a great game overall. As someone that does not like turn base games, this was definitely a pleasant surprise. Expand

Graphics are extremely ugly, everything is brown, these devs don't understand the basic concept of different colors babies learn when playingGraphics are extremely ugly, everything is brown, these devs don't understand the basic concept of different colors babies learn when playing with crayons. This game is ugly, tedious, clunky, terribly optimized. No reason to be this taxing on CPU and GPU with such basic ugly graphics worse than many games made in 1990. The only explanation is bad programming. It's tedious because end turn and even each attack have massive not needed delays that only make the game worse, boring, intrusive. The game also lacks any strategy, tactics, or thinking. You can't move your characters, the only thing you can do is press their attack button and see them attack. That's it. Rinse and repeat. Boring af. Even tho I got this pile of donkey **** afflicted with dieharharerea for free, I want my money back. Expand
