Definitely a worthwhile game to pick up if you’re even remotely interested, featuring a really solid story and combat, this is a time sink and a half of content.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst inadvertently feels less like a sequel to God Eater Resurrection than a very substantial expansion, becoming a refinement of what came "before" than a genuine step forward. While it's impossible to deny the mechanical improvements in the game, many players' enjoyment of it will largely hinge on how much more God Eater they wanted to play, or if this is the only one available to them.

Those who tough it out and take the time to learn the game’s subtleties will be in for a treat, though. Once you get your head around Rage Burst's combat, the game gains a wonderfully strategic edge, and hunting down each big-game Aragami becomes a unique and rewarding challenge.

A good hunting game, deserving of being put up there with Monster Hunter. Too Bad it seems to shy away from the seriousness of its own dark setting by putting on the front unrealistic and unlikable characters.

If people can stick with the game to get past the initial effortless difficulty, I fell they will find something to enjoy either by themselves or with friends when the tough beasts are introduced.

God Eater 2 Rage Burst is the easiest hunting game I’ve played yet. Standard missions and hard missions never presented a genuine challenge for me to overcome, and I can’t imagine veterans of the genre will feel any different.

Even with the horrid framerate, I couldn’t help but press on. Fighting a growing roster of more powerful beasts as I tested my skills against any Aragami that crossed my path is difficult to resist. The boss gauntlet that God Eater 2: Rage Burst eventually becomes is quite satisfying in ways that I wouldn’t have imagined.

It brings a tactical 'monster hunter' experience to P.C. owners and a high octane one at that. It has some issues with bland textures as is the norm with most ports and isn't free from missions feeling repetitive after a while when grinding. The combat is where this game shines and a noteworthy honorable mention to Bandai Namco for some excellent character &
monster designs as well as a abyss deep overall customization system. Covering
everything from your weapon, ammo, character & chosen party to a satisfactory extent. The combat is fast, tactical & addictive! Interesting plot development add an extra layer of depth to the God Eater story.

And regardless of whether or not MH created the genre, it did (and still does) define it. It is the benchmark against which all games of the genre will (and rightfully should) be compared.

God Eater 2 is a solid game, and I give my stamp of approval. If you don't play MH, and are into these kinds of games you'll love it. If you DO play MH it becomes less a little less appealing though. The game has its strong points (story, beautiful anime artstyle) but it's not as engaging, the hunts are far too quick and the areas are smaller. Im playing it just because I like to diversify and see what's out there. I enjoyed the first but I think it just got a little stale for me in the sequel. So I'm scoring it an 8 despite having grown bored of it, cause it's at least as good as Resurrection which I did enjoy.

Idk. It's a good game and I recommend. Not as good as Monster Hunter (nothing ever is) but enjoyable all the same. Especially good deal since it comes with Resurrection

The graphics are not state of the art and the battles are clumsy if compared to FF (XII/XIII/XV).

A tiny ensemble of monsters is endlesslyA solid contender for one of the most unbalanced, boring core gameplay loops in modern gaming. A tiny ensemble of monsters is endlessly recycled into hundreds of the same mission, all of which are "kill the thing". To list the broader problems:

-The monster difficulty is unbalanced for each damage type. This seems to be at least partially motivated by old gameplay design at loggerheads with new gameplay design. The first God Eater game motivated players to switch damage types on melee weapons by making certain monsters nearly immune to the other types. Except this entry introduces "Blood Powers" which are weapon type specific. Even if you switch weapons you'll have to slog through the mission with a level 1 weak blood power that makes you wonder if anything's really improved.

-The hit detection is dodgy at best. If you hit multiple parts of a monster's body with a swing (which you almost always do) the game will automatically select the region which the monster will take the least damage from. Compounding this, many monsters have precisely one yulnerable body part to one kind of damage (Sekhmet, Sariel) which is quite small.

-A single mission seems to be intended to take around 20 min. The game also likes to give you very little reward for the missions you go on so that achieving anything meaningful can be a full day experience. There is no option to turn down the difficulty for those of us who don't enjoy grinding. If you intend to go through this game I would highly suggest looking into something like Cheat Engine to save yourself some pain.

-The party member AI is not adjustable and fails to do the most basic things correctly. For example, even if your party members can heal you and you're one hit from death they'll usually just ignore you until you've got literally a sliver of health left. They'll frequently get distracted by unimportant, infinitely spawning trash mobs while you're left to fight the mission goal on your own.

-The one saving grace of this game (this time around) is the story, which has improved from the first game. Problem being, the game seems determined to shove your face in its failure by dragging the setting back to the setting of the first game instead of the vastly more interesting mobile fortress you inhabit for the first portion. Why God Eater 2 is so determined to remember the atrocious God Eater 1 is beyond me, but you'll see a lot of the inferior entry's characters and level design.

-The developers have given no thought to quality of life. You must withdraw each recovery item you wish to use from the computer manually. It will not automatically replenish after missions. You have to spend a minute wandering around the battlefield picking up junk after the mission completes. Why not just roll the junk into the mission rewards? Why extend the time players spend very much so noticing all the recycled environments?

-The character episodes require silly amounts of extra missions to see. They aren't usually very interesting. There is one funny scene where you punch a dude. If you go watch it on youtube you will have extracted every ounce of joy this game has without the effort. Congrats.
