If you’re an action gamer like me you will probably play every last penny of this AWESOME game!

The perfect gaming experience. Anyone who doesn't like it is a pansy wuss who needs sense beating into them with a baseball bat, and that's a fact. Capiche?
  3. A stunning, involving experience that, though not for everyone, will appeal to both the gamer looking for a long, structured action/adventure game and the one looking for loosely organized chaos.

One of the very best things about this game is its almost total lack of any visible interface. [July 2002, p.56]

What started out as a 10-minute compatibility check turned into an all-night rampage, after I got past all the bugs that is.
  6. The number of different ways you can play GTA III is astonishing.

As shocking, unsettling, and addictively compelling as a viewing of HBO's "The Sopranos." It's just that brilliant of a game. Capiche?

What can I say? You gotta play the game to realize that the hype isn't only all true but actually doesn't do the game justice. The What can I say? You gotta play the game to realize that the hype isn't only all true but actually doesn't do the game justice. The world is so organic/chaotic that there are always several ways to complete a mission that the developers probably never even considered. One of the few games I've ever played where it's just and fun and addicting to lose as it is to win. Expand

When I saw it on PC, me being a PC gamer, I *bought* it without hesitation. At first, I was sorta flustered about the lock-on system, or, rather, lack thereof, but after a while, I came to find the aiming system was far better. Rockstar made the right move. And with the option of skins, mods, and the very cool mp3 radio station, it makes the PC version better than even its PS2 counter-part. Expand

This classic game is still fun even 17 years after release.
The story takes you to the world immediately and is interesting after hours also.
This classic game is still fun even 17 years after release.
The story takes you to the world immediately and is interesting after hours also. The dialogues are well written, the only mistake was that the main character doesnt speak anything.
The gameplay is a milestone of the PC games and was a big improvement to GTA 2, one of the few examples that 3D is sometimes better than 2D, because it changed the gameplay a lot.
The graphics are of course a bit old, but there are some mods in internet, that improves it a lot. I can still enjoy the graphics.
Music and Sounds fit perfectly to the game, but there could be more music.

But there are some frustrating elements in the game:
The controlling of shooting is very bad and consolebased. No free mouse view.
The physic of the cars is unrealistic, the police is too fast and the traffic system is unrealistic, they change the line stupidly.
There is no free saving, so you lose a lot of time to do the same things again, if you load last savepoints.
Rockstar was too lazy to release patches to fix some bugs and improve the performance. It reminds me to Bethesda and their Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.

Still, the mood of liberty city and the music on the radio save the game. The missions have vague instructions and many are impossible to do on the first few attempts due to limitations put in by the game makers. Overall, the radio is great, some cars are nice, graphics not too good, and too many bad missions. The map is extremely bad and doesn't help that much. Great voice acting by the street characters of liberty city and talk show radio people. A nice game overall, even with its issues. Rockstar games is one of the worst game makers out there. The metascore is way too much. Should be around 72, not more. Expand

GTA 3....simply put....hasn't aged well. At least the PC port of it hasn't. I've heard it's pretty good on PS2, so I reckon you should playGTA 3....simply put....hasn't aged well. At least the PC port of it hasn't. I've heard it's pretty good on PS2, so I reckon you should play that version instead. The steam version (which I am reviewing) is just terrible. While it's easy to run, the controls are horrid and the driving is just awful. The shooting is just plain bad and the game has an unappealing artstyle. I'll admit the soundtrack is good, the cutscenes are well done and I enjoyed the story, but besides from that, I'd say skip this one and go with Vice City. Expand
