"Welcome to Vice City. Welcome to the 1980s." Having just made it back onto the streets of Liberty City after a long stretch in maximum security, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City by his old boss, Sonny Forelli. They were understandably nervous about his re-appearance in Liberty City, so a trip down south seemed like a good idea. But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. He's set up and is left with no money and no merchandise. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself. Vice City offers vehicular pleasures to suit every taste. For the speed enthusiast, there's high-performance cars and motorbikes. For the sportsman, a powerboat or a golf buggy lets you enjoy the great outdoors. For those that need that sense of freedom and escape, why not charter a helicopter and see the beauty of Vice City from the air? [Rockstar] Expand

Vice City doesn't improve much on the few shortcomings of its predecessor. Fortunately, it doesn't have to. [Aug 2003, p.74]

Best of all, the numerous bugs and glitches that brought the PS2 version down a notch have been cleaned up and eliminated, for the most part. Enemies no longer shoot you through solid walls, you no longer randomly lose health while running, and cars remain in your garage until you take them out.
  4. The PC version of Vice City is just as much fun as the original, with great frame rates, better graphics, more control options, and all the content that made the PS2 version an instant classic.
  5. One of the most mesmerising and consistently entertaining games on any platform, ever. [PC Gamer UK]

Many of today's action games compel gamers to race through them as quickly as possible, rarely stopping to enjoy the scenery, but Vice City is the total opposite. It's a game you want to soak in; a game you want to take in slowly and enjoy every moment.

PC gamers will be treated to better graphics and more of those great 80s songs which are available on the MP-3 radio station.

Now, gamers and gentlemen, what you see here right now is "GTA: Vice City", one of the world's most epic PC game mankind ever created. TheNow, gamers and gentlemen, what you see here right now is "GTA: Vice City", one of the world's most epic PC game mankind ever created. The game's a open-world; you could go out and massacre everybody, destroy gangs, steal cars, and call in the FBI and the army and fight till the death. One of the new features is building investments, which is also a great feature that teaches you to stop wasting money on chicks and to get your head into the game. Great graphics for 2003 as well as the game engine. The story's a meh but who the **** cares; it's GTA. A 10 out of 10!!!!!!! Expand

I encountered this game around 2005-06, and all I had played back then were Mortal Kombat, Doom games and Roadrash along with some flash games. This was my introduction to an open world game, and my first experience with this game was simply astounding. I never had played a game like this before, and this game changed my gaming experience forever. Surely, things have gotten better with time, but I don't think even the finest GTA games will ever make me love this game any less. I have loved the entire storyline of the game. I absolutely love almost every one of the missions, especially the ones which involve some kind of killing, intimidating and/or heist. And, not before this, had I seen a game giving tribute to movies. A mission involving bank heist (one of my favorites), had a tribute to Friday the 13th. A "Love Juice" mission (I don't remember the name of the mission, again, the final one) has a tribute to "Speed". Still I have tiny little problems with this game - perhaps the most generic ones. The protagonist cannot swim. He can survive jumping off a 200 ft building, but cannot swim. That has caused many difficulties to me in certain missions. Also, some missions are too unnecessarily difficult. The Driver, Demolition Man - in particular. Not just difficult, they aren't as thrilling as other missions like Phnom Pneh, Bank Job, and other missions we get at Diaz's, Cortez's and other places. Hell, random rampage missions are much better. On the whole, not a fan of racing missions at all. They have proven to be some stupid hurdles to me for getting to next exciting mission. But apart from that, I love every single bit of this game!!
